i was looking online today and decided that i am having so much fun with my first grow that i would like to do a second after im done. I have heard many good things about Foxfarm products and was wondering if anyone could recomend the best soil by foxfarm and also the best nutrients by foxfarm. i am planning on ordering an HID light just havent decided which one yet but i dont want to continue using cfl's, i was thinking about something like a 400 watt light that does both HPS and MH lights. if you guys could please give me a little info i would appreciate that a lot. thanks in advance!!!!

foxfarm ocean forest is a good soil its self sufficant and doesnt need any extra manures or anything. as for nutes iv used the foxfarm grow big and tiger bloom and found that u only need about half of the recommended dosage. i also have found that foxfarm big bloom is a great bud enhancer once your first flowers have formed. it adds weight and density when used in the proper increments.

Coco is the best but if you have your heart set on Fox Farm, Happy Frog is the shit and you get .5 more cu.ft for a $1 less than Ocean Forrest.

The best soil by FoxFarm imho is Happy Frog. I personally like it better than Ocean Forest. Add some Light Warrior to the Happy Frog for a lighter more open mix :hump:

As far as lighting goes, I'll just tell you what I do. I have a 2"x4" stand alone grow room.

For Vegging I use a 430 watt T5 CFL light(Sun Blaze) Best price: Ohio Sun Blaze 432W 65K/3K 40000 Lumens 4FT T5 Fluorescent Grow Light - Plantlighting Hydroponics
Best price: California Sun Blaze T5 System - 4', 8 bulb | BGH= this is a four foot-eight tube unit that allows you to use either 4 (clones) or 8 (Vegging) of it's lights.

For Flowering I use a 400 watt HPS unite= air cool Super Sun 2 Reflector w/glass lens Super Sun2 6 Inch Air Cool Horizontal Reflector w/Glass Lens - Plantlighting Hydroponics 400W Lumatek 120V Digital Ballast Lumatek 400W 120V HPS/MH Electronic Ballast - Plantlighting Hydroponics Plus a BAASR Adaptor BAASR Adaptor-Hydrofarm/Lumatek Ballast to Sunlight Reflector - Plantlighting Hydroponicsand a 400 HPS Hortilux Bulb (55,000 lumens). Hortilux 400W Super HPS Mogul Base Grow Bulb - Plantlighting Hydroponics Best price for the whole light.

PlantLightingHydroponics.com has the best prices around and their shipping is not padded. If you live in California you can save on shipping by going here HorticultureSource.com. They will match the low prices at PlantLighting Hydroponics. ;-)

FoxFarm FoxFarm Soil & Fertilizer Company does make good organic nutrients and you won't go wrong, but I've switched over to Botanicare: Pure Blend Pro Grow and Pure Blend Pro Bloom (soil formula) along with Sweet, Liquid Karma and Cal-Mag plus. This stuff smells so good you're happy to give it to your girls. I'm growing Strawberry Cough with one FIM and my girls are beautiful!

As a side note, I live in the Emerald Triangle (Humboldt county CA) FoxFarm is about 10 min. from where I live. This area has more concentrated growing knowledge, experience and other :weed: than the whole US put together. No one is allowed to grow a bad crop here. No, just kidding!

Just some input, bye for now.

I LOVE OceanForest. I've used it for a variety of seedlings and my current grow took off incredibly from seed. I had to repot from 4" up to 2 gallon bags in the first week (this is pretty incredible, actually- I've grown a number of plants from seed before and it usually takes at least 2 weeks to have to repot). The seedlings grew SO fast their taproot grew out of the seedling pots and into the seedling tray about 2 1/2 inches!

I'd recommend Ocean Forest. Tough to find, but you can get it on EBay with free shipping for about $36.00.

I've used the foxfarm line and it is splended. Definitely use the tiger bloom and big bloom!! Use the big bloom to what the chart says!! The Tiger you can use at your own will. I've used 2tea. like it suggest but also some strains can take half The grow big definitely be careful with. start with a 1/4 tea. and work up. It can burn and burn it will do. Also look into the cha ching and beastie bloomz!! The cha ching is amazing use that in full dose as in the schedule. The Beastie Bloomz use in moderation till you get it figured out.

Stay away from anything from fox farm, infact stay away from any high end/botique soil/fertilizer manufacturers all together, instead learn why fox farm soil is better than off the shelf soils & replicate its contents at 1,10th the cost, there is no magic in fox farm soil only quality soil that has been amended properly.

I'd put my home made pro mix up against any fox farm soil product anyday & the results will be just as good with my properly amended soil, infact ive done side by side grows with designer soil, its good soil but nothing you cant make yourself, using simple products found at every home depot on earth.

Same goes for fertilizers,no secrets there either.

People want to believe things like bud hardner have real effects that cant be replicated using off the shelf products so they buy them, instead of learning about fertilizers/soil & what plants need.

Save your cash & learn to amend your own soil.
