question on cloning

can you clone from mature plants that are almost all the way through flowering? instead of having a mother plant?
Thanks

U really don't wanna do that since it would take forever for the clone to root and to re-veg. That's what the mothers for, keep her in veg and keep taking clones of her.

yeah it doesn't really take much to keep a mother... you only have 3-5 cfl's around the mother just enough light to keep her alive and healthy

You can, in fact, clone a flowering plant and it will actually root better than one that is vegging. BUT...the clone can take a month or more to transition back into veg, and the small premature buds will raise the chance of bugs, fungs, disease, etc. Accoring to Jorge Cervantes anyways.

if they do root faster during flowering its likely becuase you are using less Nitrogen at that time, which can slow root formation in the clones... so ease off (of the Nitrogen) a week or so before taking clones. i like to take clones just before switching to flowering mode, then the clones root after a couple weeks and have about 1 1/2 months to veg. before going into the flowering chamber.

plants that are in flowering mode and go back to vegetative mode will also 'recapitulate' their earlier growth; going back to producing leaf clusters with only 1 leaf, then 3 leaves, then 5 leaves, etc. until they are vegging normally again.

thanks for all this useful info guys...the reason i was asking was because i only plan on growing 2 or 3 plants at a time in a box that ive already built and i didnt want ot have to start from seed after every harvest and i planned on taking a clone right before i chopped it down...but it looks like thats gonna be more work than just starting from seeds lol...thanks again
