question on aeration and root rot

from my reading the fungi/bacteria/mould will not grow in higher O2 H2O...right now i have a RDWC system.

theres always water flowing in this system...i thought i had plenty of 02 in my H2O...maybe im wrong..

my question is...if i put a air pump in where should i put it? in the main rez? or run a line to each site?

i feel like the constant water flowing into each bucket should be plenty but i may be wrong.

Not really an answer to the question but.... I ran an air stone in my res for years, and decided the last 6 months or so without it and there has been no noticeable change in the performance of the system or growth. I think the moving water in your system should be plenty. If you were gonna add more air, cus it surely would not hurt I would prolly drop one in each bucket to maximize the air at the roots not just in the water. I'm working on designing a pot with a built in air injection manifold, I need to find someone with a 3d printer to prototype it so I can test out the idea. Does the return water have any sort of waterfall effect when it dumps into the res?

i think i just need to practice rez changes...but i dont want to...trying to keep costs down as a bottle of nutes costs 60 bucks and with a rez change every week i will plow through one a month. might start a H2O2 regiment. but thats also an added cost. i run synthetic nutes so benificials arent a issue for me though and a H2O2 regiment would be cheaper than a rez change every week...not to mention the huge pain in the ass it is to flush my system

Man Matt it sounds llike your exactly where I was about a year ago on this. I started using h2o2 and it quickly got annoying cus I can't get the 30% stuff near me. Thats when I started reading about the pool shock thing, and ended up trying that route. I've been thrilled, I only change my res like once a cycle usually and top it off the rest of the time. If you've got a waterfall into the res I'm sure you get plenty of o2 btw.

All i use is flooming partly from waterfall affect and nozzles that direct a high powered jet of water to surface of rez. Better than air stones IMO. If u decide to add air anyway just put stones in main res.

yeah i dont think O2 is my issue, i think its just lack of cleanliness. i had root debri and dead leaves floating in my buckets acting like a breeding ground for nasty shit. im going out today to get the items i need to rig up my rezz for water changes every couple weeks (havent changed the water in over 3 months)

i gave all the plants a nice "shampoo" with a bleach solution

Cleanliness sure goes along way. I finally got around to cleaning my flood tray out the other day for the first time in like 2 months.

I have developed a technique that not only keeps nutes constantly recirculating, BUT, adds chi (energy) as a bonus

Below are several iterations. First pic is Hydro Halo ring feeding plants.

No longer using HH ring to splash nutes onto rocks in rez

I now use a tripod under a bowl of ornamental rocks and let the 1/2" tube splash directly onto them via a 160 gph pump. The bowl is several inches higher than the water line which further keeps water/nutes agitated
