Question how often to change water and nutes??...

Hi folks, I am a n00b and thinking about setting up Aero/Nft. I saw great tutorial made by StinkBud. Basically, he advises to have an aero-cloner, aero-vegger, and 3 aero flowering apparatuses; 5 altogether. I works on 3 week cycles: Clones 3 weeks, then put to vegger for 3 weeks, and then to flowering for 8-9 weeks -- note: you have 3 flowering aeros so you can put your veggies to flower every 3 weeks. Now, here is where the problem lies....He says to clean out the reservoirs every end of the cycle. That simple, I get that. You clean out the cloner and vegger every 3 weeks (end of cycle). But then the flowers?? you put them to flower. However, they stay in the very same apparatus for 8-9 weeks. He says you clean out the flower reservoir when you take 'em out. But really? Can it go for 2 months with the same water? All you do is add water and nutes to maintain PPMs?? Thanks everyone.

If it were me I would plumb it to a second bucket, just a piece of tube and some rubber grommets.

Now if you do that you double the qty of water and as it drops you wipe out extra container and feed thru it.

whatever you don't remove ( liquid ) will get mixed with fresh water then add your Nutes check PH and your Rockin!

Im high so I'm probably missing something!

I kinda don't understand what you're sayin' :D. So does it mean that I can go 2 months without cleaning, or I cannot. I don't understand the reason to plumb it into another bucket....I might as well empty it out and put in new water. Or what exactly is the reason for 2nd bucket? Thanks.

I am on my first grow and I use 1 AeroFarm drip system and one 4-pot aeroponics system. I change my reservoirs every week because my temps are kind of high 75-80ish. I add 5ml/gallon of 35% H2O2 every other day and have not had a single mold issue. The roots are nice and white. I am at the tail end of my first week of flowering and things are going good so far. Just did a reservoir change myself. Its a pain but I don't want my hard work to be in vain. Besides, aero systems are very self-contained so res changes is about the only work required if everything else is in order (pH, ppm, temp, etc.). I hope this helps some.

Change water and nutes once a week or as needed if plants are sucking down lots of water, clean everything after every harvest.
