Question for next year...Garlic vs Worms, or what?

Being a newbie, we didn't pay enough attention to the worms that got into our plants until we started trimming this week. Couple plants are pretty bad with them.
1) What is the best way to prevent them, 2) and then deal with them once they've infested?

lol.,.,.,shes talking about catapilars.,.,.u dont want to smoke buds with alot of there drop'ings on them(that black shit)it isnt go0d for ure respitory.,.,(spores/bacteria ect that stays in the smoke whe inhaled)
