So my question for the OG soil/outdoor growers who really care about quality/quantity .. Im in VA growing in soil. I get about 8hours direct sun. My Obama runtZ is still giving me shoots an looks fabulous.. however. When the time comes to swap to bloom nutes around august or so.. I'm about to order this one.. was wondering if I need another bloom nute to go along with it or not? Thank you in advance for the feedback

I don’t like mixing styles. Building or starting with quality soil mix can make it so you don’t need “veg” or “ flower” nutes.
Focus on compost/ewc and quality amendments to add all your plant and let the plant decide when she wants it.

Or ...go bottle fed the whole way if you want the control over feedings. Just my train of thought.

I run coast of maine stonington blend in 2/3 of the pot with happy frog on the top 1/3. In 5 gallon pots this is enough nutes for the first 4 to 5 weeks. I am doing all autos outside so, timing wise, this gets me into preflower. At week 4 I top dress with a quarter cup veg 4-4-4 nutes and a quarter cup rose and flower nutes 2-8-4. All nutes are Down to Earth organics. I water with recharge once per week but otherwise just straight tap water. For a bloom boost I will top dress with seabird guano 0-11-0 on week 5 and do final top dress at week 8. I like simple

Curious about this VA thing. When did you start your plant outdoors? How is it doing? Are you growing in the ground or in pots?

anything from build-a-soil is great stuff ... I just use their Craft Blend throughout the grow, never change it up. The only other thing you may want to consider is adding some healthy biology (microbes) ... it could be as simple as using a bottle of something like Photosynthesis Plus, or you could get a lot more involved with it and make your own by brewing up compost teas, or KNF inputs

Interesting, in Virginia what are the laws for growing weed? i live in Oklahoma and the laws for growing here are pretty loose. each person can have 12 plants. My wife's family lives there even though they are Oklahoma natives. My wife went to Virginia for a family funeral. she loved Virginia so much that she almost packed up the house and moved us there lol. I was wondering how struck it is there. I know for here in Oklahoma, we have red clay soil due to the dust bowl back in the 40s, which blew away all the top soil. however, i planted a Thailand Lao Village landrace pure sativa strain, outdoors in the dirt and its grown the best crop i have ever had, and its only spring. here are pics of it below....

Ya i didnt know that much about it either, till i moved from the Seattle area to Oklahoma City back in 2004. before growing weed, i have always grown roses and tomatoes - both of which grow awesome in the seattle / Yakima area. you just drop a seed into the ground and out pops a plant, with no fuss.... not so much here in Oklahoma. completely different climate. Plus a TON of humidity during the spring and early summer. you can almost drink the air lol. If it wasnt for my time here learning how to handle the soil, i would not be able to grow outside.

this year along with my Lao Village and Purple Rock Candy, i am also growing Beef steak tomatos, Cherry tomatoes, yellow cherry tomatoes, TONS of herbs like Cilantro, mint, Oregano, dill, also i am growing Pumpkins, Corn, peas, Potatoes, and turnups. one thing that i have noticed that really helps is companion planting. say like i did with the pumpkin, corn and peas. the best plants i have seen that help give healthy crops of weed is aromatic plants such as culinary sage, mint, oregano. right now i am growing dill an cilantro with my outside plants.

Oh and also with the dust bowl, i have talked to people who lived through it, they said that even at noon the sky was almost completely blacked out by all the dust that was in the air. the soil was so dry that it all went up into the skys. since then, the state has implamented so safety features. they dug tons of ponds and lakes as water table reserves across the state. we actaully have more water front property here in oklahoma than costal states. they also started planting large trees around the parameter of chunks of land, which help to break up the winds so they dont just suck up dust dirt and stuff. I never knew about that till i moved here :-)

Wow man 12 plants? Jeeze that's awesome! Won't ever have to buy weed then lol we're allowed to grow up to 4 plants outdoor as of right now. We have a shit ton of red clay but I basically dig a 4X4 hole then insert my special soil mix that Ive been working on for years now. I only have 8 hours of direct cuz I don't wanna be in the public eye. Sorta sucks but I'm sure it'll be alright bud. I was wondering about the best kind of bloom nutes to use. I'm really sorta confused as which ones should I use? I only use organic btw

Personally i use old coffee grounds. i dont know if that effects the acidity negatively though so you might want to check with someone else before you do. i have used that for forever for tomatoes and roses. also towards the end of flowering i use molasses mixed in with the water. i put in about a teaspoon per 2 gallons of water. the sugar apparently helps with the sweetness of the final flower product.

Hi, the Lao Village plants literally turned out to be males. Lol. I cut them down once I found out. The pollen was forming 8 feet up from the ground so it was hard to catch. However my other 6 plants “Purple Rock Candy” Indica hybrids I actually just finished harvesting them today. They are on the drying rack now. The pics added below are from 3 out of the 6 plants that have been dried already…..
