Question about soil

Okay so i'm growing outdoors this year using 10 gallon grow bags. Also i am using roots organic as my base soil. I need help with the additives and how much of each would be need per bag.

Really i have everything i need just don't know the ratio to mix them into 10 gallon bags...

  • Maybe some extra perlite (depending if needed or not)
    Organic worm castings
    Bone meal
    Blood meal
    Epson salts
    Powdered humic acid -trace elements

I've never used epsom salts or powder humic acid so I can't help there. But I would go 50% soil, 15% bone meal, 15% blood meal, and 20% worm castings. I mix the soil and perlite 50/50 so in other words the 50% soil has perlite in it too.

should i let it sit and cook for any amount of time? so it doesn't burn my plants when i transplant them outside for the summer.

I would look in the organic or soil threads. Most guys mix and measure by the bag or cubic feet . You'll find lots of recipes and mixing ratios to go from.

blood meal will/might bring animals...
thank you!!

I was prepping in my plot the other day and seen some deer droppings. Making a trip to the store for some repellent, and has anyone had any luck using these things that stake in the ground a release a smell that deers don't like? Seen them the other day and thought about giving it a try.

I'll post some pics of my plot when its finished still a few weeks before it's done tho.

i used blood meal the first year i grew to repel the deer...didn't work..
then i found out the deer here don't eat cannabis...they have other food till my plants start budding and then they don't want them...
that said...if a deer is hungry and it knows it can get food...a bad smell isn't going to stop them...would it stop you?
i was thinking racoons would dig up plants with blood meal...

Not to many racoons where i live maybe opossums but i think they'd rather stick to my trash...
And for deer i haven't seen one in 6 years or more here, but like i said i seen droppings so there is atleast one around.
I shouldn't have to big of a problem with pest besides bugs, got some neem oil in the other today to keep spider mites at bay.

You certainly don't want to use 15% bone or blood meal. It will cook your plants! Try a tsp per gallon of soil. Also, a tsp of lime is good to keep your medium stable. Worm castings are great also. I would add a little perlite to the mix.
