question about smells...

I am about to have my very first harvest.... I have read almost the entire harvest forum and I didn't see anything about the one area I'm concerned about. My basement seems to be the best place for me to dry my harvest because of the temp and RH. only my basement smells of mildew(old storage basement). my question is:

If I dry my buds in the smelly air will my buds smell/taste like my basement?

My next option is my garage(but I use it and some light may get in from time to time... my only other option is storage shed that is subject to the temp/RH of the outside air.

any suggestions?

and my apologies in advance if this is a repedative question... I just didn't see anything in the forums(although I am blasted when i read them... i guess that is a given at this type of site)

The buds are only going to be in there for about a week max, so your basement should be fine. Honestly if it were me I would definitely put them in the basement.

why not dry them where you grew them??

yah, i'm not too sure if i would dry them in that basement.. i have a basement that is kinda like the one your talking about.. mine is kinda damp and stale too, and i alway thought that the damp stale air wouldn't be the best place for drying out buds.. but i have never tried it to prove or disprove my gut feeling on it, so im not positive that it would have any negative effects on your buds.. all i did was find a dark closet that had a lot of room in it and put in a fan, not on the buds, just moving the air around some, and dryed them in the closet till they were ready for jars..
i am now interested to see what others have to say about this, lol.. good ?...

I grow in my basement... hence the question... I have to agree with the rest of them, great avatar!!!

my first harvest is just bag seed. I experimented with that first throughout my entire grow so I guess i will experiment with the harvest to. I'll put one in each spot and see what does the best....
