Question about my carbon filter help!!!

The white foam sheath on the filter is filthy!!! Do I have to have this sleeve on here? Can I take it off and clean it? The room seems to be running hot since this has looked so dirty. I've been running it for about a month 2 weeks 24/7.

Take it off and throw it in the washing machine, most prefilters can be washed or u can buy a new one

I recommend hand washing.

Putting them in the machine can cause them to loose shape and then they can become a bitch to straighten out to fit again.

Hand wash then hang dry, the dryer will shrink the filter and you will most likely not be able to stretch it out again.

As they have all said, the pre filter is there to prolong the life of your filter, hand wash it and put it back on. If I'm in a hurry when doing monthly cleans I just vacuum the pre filter haha

I think I'll try that! I got a shop vac near by.
