Question about making seeds?

So I am trying my hand at breeding for the first time and am making 4 new hybrids.

So far so good. The males definitely dumped pollen all over the girls and seeds are forming.

My question is, since I have no intention of smoking the buds with the seeds in it, do I need to let them flower to the end of a regular cycle?

I would like to get a regular crop in there ASAP, but I don't want to sacrifice the seeds quality in any way.

At what point in development is a seed totally viable?

Thanks for any advice.

You can open some seed bracts to check on them. I go by the green/white sickly looking ones are not likely to germinate, and if they did would they be "complete"?

The longer you wait, the more brown "tiger stripe" seeds you will get. At this point though, they could likely be moved off to the side if that helps. They are already committed and could still mature further with light at the edges if that helps you get new plants in there. I just seeded a small crop, let it go for a couple of extra weeks, got tons of mature seed but some were still immature. The buds that were holding the seeds still have lots of trichomes, but tasted gross.

Thanks for the advice. I thought about moving them to the side but I'm concerned the pollen residue will seed the next crop? I suppose I could clean the leaves off as much as possible.

I plan on making oil with the left overs.

Do you remove the seeds after drying?

I grow for seeds all the time and I get good seeds all the time. I grow them 10 weeks with or without seeds, and one 14 weeks. I grow in soil and push the fuck out of them and they taste great! I am always breeding something just to see what comes of it. My latest coolaid and HRC have seeds and are very potent. Coolaid turns into a pile of crystals when broken up. Seeds cuts into quality a little bit, still turns out great for me. I let the male get lots of nuts and never pollinate past 2 week of flower for the girls. I try to polinate as soon as there is a female flower the size of a dime, and then hit it again a week later this way all is done at the same time. I flush em for a week and they taste great. Even the ones I let go 14 weeks ( the coolaid ) still turned out fabulous. Coolaid has a longer flower period that can be manipulated either direction. If you want to see it become something great save the male or pollen and back cross, then feminize the outcome. You will be amazed at what happens in the fembot. All of my Fembots are truly amazing.

Dry and cure the seed while theyre in the buds; they'll be fully mature when you break apart the bud to smoke it... And most of the seeds will fall into your glass jars while you cure; it's a nice "ping" sound from new genetics.
