Question About Growing Season

I know that the typical season for starting an outdoor grow is Late March/April.

I'm in So. Cal and i'm wondering if it's possible to pull off a short outdoor grow starting in October. We still have moderate/warm weather but of course the days are shorter.

I germinated three seeds just for fun (tested new germination method) but not sure what to expect. I assume they'll grow but not expecting this to be like a grow during the warmer months.

As anyone ever tried this? what can i expect to happen? Will they die before they flower?

How many hours of daylight do you currently have each day? How many will you have a month from now? Etc.

If I lived where you are with what sounds like a super long growing season, I'd be growing some killer sativas!!

Yes you can. But I would advise bringing them in at night to keep them warm. The daylight hours are from 10.5 to 9.6 from now until the new year. You won't get the top yield, but yes you can grow pretty decent plants.

BTG1028, i see you're in so cal too....if i do as you recommend, how much veg time do you think i can get? when do you think it would start to flower?

I'm thinking that it might flower during our rainy season in Jan/Feb (???)

thanx

It's going to start to flower whenever you put it outside, unless you plan on having lights on them too.

my question pertains to when they might flower. will they automatically flower after they reach more maturity or will they re-veg if they don't completely flower by next March?

if i'm growing outside and bring them in just to protect them from the cold at night? that doesn't answer anything in regards to when they would flower.

Just wondering if anyone has any tips or suggestions. Please let me know if a grow b/w now and March is not very feasible. I understand that it won't veg much obviously but i don't plan on doing an indoor grow whatsoever.

The hardest thing to find out is if anyone has ever tried this in my region. If not, i'll carry on with my own experimentation.

thanks for all of your help...there was probably some miscommunication on my part but i hope you all now understand what i'm trying to ask.

Once they reach maturity they should flower from seed. As you already know they will not get as big as normal season plants but yes they will bud. They won't reveg as you have a long ways until hours will meet requirements. dirrtyd
