Question about Flushing DWC

Hey I'm getting towards the end of my first DWC grow and am curious about flushing. Does everyone flush DWC or do some people find it unnecessary? How long do you flush for? Also if I do flush should I continue to use Hydroguard to keep from having issues with my root system? Any other tips or info are greatly appreciated.

This issue has been open for debate for a long time. I've done it both ways. If I don't flush, everything is super green at harvest time. Last round I did flush and got good color change, and the nitrogen purge, but let them go longer too and only paid attention to the trics for harvest time. You certainly don't want to starve them during their last weeks of flower though.

So do you notice a difference smell or taste wise. I don't really care about color change is prefer not to have to flush by it be easier. This week I'm starting to reduce the EC and will continue to do until I harvest. And as far as starving them isn't it good to have them use up whatever nutrients they have stored? It's tough cuz everyone I ask has their opinion but there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer for DWC. Well thanks for responding

I have not really noticed a difference fushing vs. not flushing. I agree, my goal was to let them use up all the stored fertilizer as as well. I didn't even start flushing until day 56 and they went to 69 days. The buds had stopped growing by day 56, where I only paid attention to the trics to determine harvest time. The previous soil grow I cut at day 60 and there was a big difference in potency and flavor between 60 days and 69 days. Bottom line is as of this point I can't tell the difference, but I will flush this grow to a degee.

I too and basing when I harvest off of Trics. I'm glad to hear that you had a noticeable difference between cutting early and when Trics. Say it's time. I also plant to selectively harvest cu I have alotbof buds in middle and lower down on the plant and I think clearing awaynthenupoerost growth will allow those to get more light and ripen a bit. In growing Autoflower for first time. Yeah from what I've read on Internet I guess I'm not gonna flush my plants all seem very healthy and green and I figure since I'm lowering how much nutrients they are gettig that should be enough. Flushing had me a little worried because I wondered how my roots would do with the heat and No Hydroguard. That stuff is great my water was consistently warmer then everyone said it should be and I had no root rot or anything bad at all while using hydro G. I even got lazy a few times and didn't change my Res and clean buckets etc. for like 2 1/2 weeks still no problema

It's hard to wait until they are properly done unless you have plenty in stock and don't like trimming :cuss:. Hydroguard is the only thing I've heard of successfully working without chillers in a higher temp environment. I use it as well, but also have a chiller. Works great. Make sure you get some more, because an outbreak can happen super fast. She looks great, should be some nice smoke. Now you gotta dry and cure it just right! Just as important as the grow imo.

Not sure what you mean by first part of your message with in stock and not like trimming.

I agree about drying/curing I recently moved to humid area after living in dessert conditions and just ordered a dehumidierf hoping that will help keep mold at bay. Wih I had the money to get an AC I'm planing on using back bedroom to dry all my bud but it gets decently hot in my house probly around 80 or little higher. I'm hoping having window open to let new air in wen if it's hot then a fan moving the air around and the dehumidifier will set me up a decent spot to dry my stuff also have some hanging mesh baskets and will probably remove most of the bud off of any larger stems and see what hApoens make adjustments as they are required.

I just posted a thread askin people if they knew how the weed at dispensaries or any real top shelf shit acquires that smooth crisp almost menthol like taste or feeling you get from smoking. It's kinda hard to explain in words what I mean but if you've ever happened the pleasure of smoking shot like that you'd know what I mean. I wasn't sure if it happens by the way they dry and cure it or just genetics or grow technique or all of the above. Do you have any thoughts on the subject?

First part I meant that it's easier to wait until it's really really done, even if that means 75 days if you have plenty of canna already and you don't like trimming. Meaning I have more than enough bud from previous grows in jars and I don't like trimming, so I don't mind waiting, lol. When you don't have any in stock it's easy to think it's ready and chop it. Here in CO it's dry, so normally I wet trim and keep them on stems and hang them until the outside feels crispy. Usually takes 3 days depending on rh. Then I put them in a big plastic tub with the lid on/off to get the rh up for another day or two, until any hay smell is gone and they smell like they did when growing. Then cut them from the stem and put them in jars. Burp for a few days, when it's a little crispy I put in a boveda pack and put them on the shelf and that's it.

I know what you are talking about with the menthol like taste. I'd have to say it's more genetic related. It reminds me of some 'kind bud' I got growing up in MO back in the 90's. I find the best smell shortly after it's jarred and the best taste about a month later. Trick with drying is to not let it dry too quickly. You should not have that problem in a higher rh environment. I don't have experience in much above 30% rh though lol.

Ahh I get what your saying and yeah unfortunately I have nod bud and haven't had any for 4 months I moved from the weed Mecca of San Diego to mountains of Appalachia and don't know many people around here let alone a weed connect so I'll be eagerly awaiting my buds to be smokable but hoping that from now on I'll be growing enough to last me till the next season. Really loving autoflowers and the fact I can have quite a few harvests during one summer/fall I started planting them as early as possible and did an indoor batch. I stagger them and start 4 plants Every 2 weeks that way I am continually having something to harvest and within next 2 weeks all the fun is beginning. I had only grown photo period plants up until this year and this is a game changer. Well thanks for your input. I'm hoping everything goes smoothly with the rest of my grow and subsequent harvest. Happy growing
