Question about first tent setup (with pics)

First, thanks to everyone who contributes here, I've learned a lot over the past two weeks.

Here's my question - What order is best for odor/heat control when working with:
-2ft x 4ft grow tent
-250w MH and HPS bulbs
-Cool tube for bulbs
-240 cfm inline fan
-DIY or premade carbon filter (haven't decided yet)

I've seen every configuration possible recommended, so it's hard to actually decide what works best. Anyone have any ideas?

Go filter, fan, light, out of tent. Connect the filter straight to the in side of the fan...no ducting if you can avoid it. this will create positive air pressure in your system and keep smells from leaking in and sneaking out.

Just my opinion but I would do the 2nd drawing. You don't want to push air through a carbon filter; it's always better to pull it through. Plus you want to have the air scrubbed by the filter right before it leaves the tent so you can make sure that no smells are getting out. Sometimes you can get smells creeping into your ducting or hood. So put your fan next to the hole in the tent and pull air through your cooltube and then through your carbon filter and then through your fan and out the tent.

That would work also. I guess I'm used to normal carbon filters...where you only have an option to put them at the beginning of your vent system or at the end....since there is only one outlet. I just like putting everything at the beginning...that way the positive air pressure in the vent system will keep from any smells creeping in.
