Question about fan fires

I have a 270cfm can-fan and was planning on keeping it above the grow room in the attic. The reason being is because of a well written argument about the situation whether the fan should rest in or out of the grow room. My concern is where I live, it's hot and humid year round. Is keeping the fan in the attic safe even with attic like conditions (fiber glass, duct, wood, dust, temperature, etc)? Running an extension cord is a slight concern as well.

If it's a modern UL listed fan and it overheats it will shut down. THAT may be your biggest concern, check it often.

although, the more I sleep on it.. Im not so worried about the fan overheating.. it will shut down.. im worried about dust igniting. Correct me if i'm wrong, but, it is much better for the exhaust fan to be out of the room and closest to the vent leading out.. more power sucking in the air rather than pushing it out.. right?
