Exact same for me I'm in southern ontario, my rooms about 70% and can get it down to 60ish with a dehumidifier. The bud can get to around 60 but overnight it gets closer to 70Rooms are all differnt RH%. Dark and cool is the best place. Keept out of kight. Im in ontario Canada and its pretty cold and rainy here. My house showes 50-60% ish but when i drop the meters in the jars and check the next morning my jars r arrounf 65-75%. Some holding at 62-65%
I'm having a problem over-drying buds that I'm ready to cure. What's your curing room RH where you put buds in a paper bag? I'm going from 75% RH down to 55% overnight. If the buds feel moist again and clump together, then definitely dump them out into a paper bag, throw in a hygrometer, fold the top over once, then check in 4 - 8 hours. They should be dryer without risk of being overly dry, then you can re-jar them. Repeat as necessary.
Instead of dumping in the 70's...try putting a little 4" fan over the open jar for a few minutes. Leave hygrometer in there, the fan will drop the reading temporarily... maybe a lot... then close the jar back up and the reading will rise back up to maybe a point less than it was before you started. I hate handling the fresh buds too much... little fan works great...I use Akar temp./hygo's for cigar humidorsThe calibers fit it all but the smallest mason jars. I can't think of the sizes right now but the ones that are roughly 4-5 inches tall they fit in even.
I got mine off amazon I believe or ebay. I bought like 10 at a time and havnt had a problem yet besides batteries passing away.
I put them in the jars when thwy are roughly 65-69% and burp them over the course of a few days. They usually rise up a bit, if it goes over 70% i dump them out on a tray for a few hours. Once they get to 60ish you can burp like 1 a week. 59-60%. Then you can store it for months. Hope that helps!
Sounds like you're having more of a 'drying' issue than a 'curing' problem. If you go to jar too early, you'll have these wide swings in the jar RH%. The fact that the RH% for you is dropping from 75% down to 55% overnight in the bag means you're definitely on the right track so keep up with what you're doing. You still have a lot of moisture deep in your buds that's wicking out in the jars. Do you have big fat buds?I'm having a problem over-drying buds that I'm ready to cure. Thanks. I'm slowly figuring it out. I need to dry differently and trim differently depending on the strain. Funny, I grew GSC this year, too, but I thought the main colas had huge buds. Low expectations, I guess. Did your plant look anything like mine? With dispensary clones, I take the names with a grain of salt. Large, sorta coarse looking-leaves. The buds on the main colas were decent sized. Sticky bastard to trim.Sounds like you're having more of a 'drying' issue than a 'curing' problem. I grew Girl Scout Cookies this year so my buds were mostly smaller although the main colas were medium sized. I dried the largest colas for 6 days at an average of around 65 - 72 degrees F and RH% of approx 50% - 65%. The smaller colas/buds dried in about 4 - 5 days.
As a result, I didn't have to use the paper bags this year because when I put them in the jars they weren't overly moist. I'm about 9 days into curing and I'm still burping the jars twice daily and leaving them open about 15 minutes each day. They still have an incredible smell and continue to cure nicely.
Remember, even if you're curing room RH% is 60 - 70 %, the paper bag should draw out moisture. Just remember to fold the top over. You should see the RH% drop in a couple of days.
Exactly how mine looks. Do you leave he hygrometer in the jar for the rest of the curing process? Just a little nervous the plastic may affect the bud.Should be close to this.

I totally agree with you about buying clones, mine also came from a dispensary so who knows what you're getting. I thought the colas were a decent size but the buds themselves were quite small and labor intensive to trim.Thanks. I'm slowly figuring it out.
