Question about clones

So I took 13 clones last night and places them in my Humidy dome after spraying it w water... They r under 125watt t5 florecent light and on a heating pad in my closet ... The light is about 3 inches off the top of the dome. I woke up this morning and went to spray the dome before I left for work and all The cuttings were laying down like they were dying or something. So I noticed the rapid rooters were dry to the touch so I sprayed the dome and poured a bit of water in the tray let it sit for a few minutes and dumped it. Then I put a thermometer/hygrometer into the dome. The temp was at 76f but humidity went up to 60 after I sprayed the dome but by ththe time I left for work 10 mins later it was already at 47 so I put a bowl of water under the dome... How can I get my Humidy up? My grow room has humidity issues also there is a black sheet absorbing heat and light drawn over the closet where the clones are should I take this off? I'm assuming the air is pretty cold in there bc my heat broke last week and my landlord still hasn't fixed it and I'm using space heaters to heat my room right now ...

So I came home just now on split shift and 4 plants are now standing back up and the humidity is up to 60% (bowl of water must have helped?) but temp was at 97f just raised the tf another 4 inches or so I think it's time to buy a timer for the heating mat

Temps upper 70s humidity 60% no dome. If you use a dome you have to take the top off every so often. I don't use them so I can't tell you how often. With a heating pad ALONE heat will build up under the dome.

Ya I'm just pay the 36$ for a temp control thing for the heating mat I think that's my best bet ...

Just used the tape suggestion watched it jump from 58 to 63 in 2 seconds but I only taped the middle front as to let fresh air in on the sides still (I keep the back side flush against the tray)

I think for most people the thermostat for cloning is over kill but in your situation I would suggest it. You can find it on amazon for about $30 or so.

Another thing is 125w is way overkill for clones. I have a 28 watt( 2x14w) t5 and I can get roots in 5-7 days on a whole 11x20 tray and dome.

You're pushing your clones with high heat and too much light. They are gonna keep wilting like that.

After they root, slap them in party cups and then put 125 watts on em. That would be a great veg light.

Buy a new dome + top combo for $5-6 at any grow store. You must be able to keep the inside of the dome as close to 100% as possible. If I check my domes and don't see condensation inside the domes I know I have a problem. Got to have that high humidity to spur root growth, eh? Also, a seed mat is preferable to a heating pad. Many do not know that seed mats are calibrated to raise the temp only 5-10 degrees. I bet a heating pad is hotter than that. Check that first. Also, it's OK to leave water standing on the dome floor at all times. I make sure to have a quarter inch or so of water standing in my domes at all times. Helps keep the humidity high. Finally, if you cut so many clones you likely have some with thin stems that may droop at the first sign of stress. In that case I have in the past used a rubberband around the jiffy pellet to act as a brace for the cutting.

Good luck, BigSteve.

Thanks a lot I appreciTe it the heating pad I have is made by agromax for cloning and the dome the same. I don't think it's my equipment I think it's my environment. Thanks for the tips like the rubberband idea a lot!
