Question about clones turning hermie

Hey all, I am a newb when it comes to growing clones. I have always grown from seeds in DWC, things have always turned out pretty well for being a beginner and experimenting. Anyway, a friend of mine is taking a six week class for caregiving and has never grown anything before but insists on telling me I'm doing everything wrong and what I should do. He says I should use gloves and make sure everything is sterile (which I've never done before) or all my female clones will change to male, he also says when I start flowering if I expose my plants to any light at all in the dark stage it will make all of them change hermie. By any light he is saying even a pin hole of light for a second, which I know exposing it to light can make it go back to veg state but will any of this really effect my clones turning hermie? I have only had one plant turn hermie before and it was grown from seed and surrounded by females and I had no ventilation and it was my first grow. But anyway, my main question is, do female clones have a big chance of turning hermie? I mean I know they probably could but you would really have to mess something up right? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!! =)

If the parent stock isn't stable, then you can throw hermies from stress. Exposing stable plants to a little light won't cause problems, think about moonlight. I've never had a clone or any plant turn herm on me. Your friend has "new grower" syndrome, he's in the stage where he really doesn't understand but thinks he does. As far as the plant goes, it's pretty simple, if your genetics throws hermies, get rid of it, if it doesn't and you like it, keep it. Don't stress yourself, you might go hermie. :-P
