I saw an answer on this before.... it was NO, and it had something to do with fungal spores on the rice, which means it aint exactly a sterile desiccant media. Maybe someone can confirm that.. thats just what I remember hearing. My memory might not be too good for obvious reasons.

My only question is why do you want to dry it faster? I understand wanting to dry a small bud to see if it will get you high just for shits and giggles. Drying and curing are just as important, as growing a healthy happy plant. Drying your buds more slowly and then curing them for a nice period of time to allow all the chemical reactions to take place, giving you a smoother and more potent smoke.
IMHO you have spent who knows how much $$$$ on your seeds, nutes and electric if inside and oh so much time with your plants, why cut corners now?
In regards to rice, best advice I know don't do it, at least not with any quantity. If you want to try that method take a bud or two and do what you think will work and see what the results are. Never be afraid to try new methods but when doing so make sure the amount of bud is not more than you would miss if the method turns out to be bad.
Good Luck and Just Be Patient and you will recieve all the goodness the plant has to offer.
