purge bho questions

So tonight im going to do my first run. I wont be vacuum purging but using the hot water method. The tubes I have hold 7 grams total. I am going to purge it at 100-110 and keep switching the water out to make sure the temp stays at 110. Any idea how long ill have to keep switching the water? I will buy a griddle if I have to but from what I read this should work?

Im gonna use an analogy here. I can take 16 hours to make proper spaghetti sauce (and enjoy it) or buy sauce from a can ( and complain later).

Put simply yes that could work but its gonna be full of residual butane. There are ways to do it without vac pump but imho this isnt one of them.

A 7 gram extraction tube is very small. I would recomend something bigger.

Also you know not to extract indoors and not to bring inside till all liquid butane is gone right?

Yes I know im not supposed to extract with the butane indoors but I can purge indoors correct? I know 7 grams is tiny but I just want to try it and see how it comes out before wasting product. I actually have 2 7 gram tubes filled.

I read about wintering it? What do you suggest for someone first time. Thanks for the help

Since you do not have a vac purger what i recommend is:
1. Freeze butane and material

2.Boil water in house, bring pot of water outside with you.

3. If doing both 7 gram tubes put 2 shot glasses full of 190° everclear or 99% iso in pyrex .

4 water should be cooling off now, float pyrex in warm water.

5. Blow tubes into pyrex.

Once violent reaction stops wait 30 minutesbefore bringin. Inside.

6 let air evap with fan for 18-36 hours.

7 scrape and enjoy

What if I cant get iso or 99% grain alcohol? You don't think I should keep switching the water out to make it purge faster? Is that the only reason people keep changing the water so it finishes faster?

Without using vaccuum or alcohol there is really no way to remove all the butane. doing a 110° water bath is going to evaporate the butane but not purge it

My friend is trying to tell me that you can smoke the stuff you ran the butane through. Meaning the weed. Is that true? He said let it air dry then smoke

Also can I re run the same batch. The weed still looks like it has crystals

You can re-run the material yes. If you think the material still has some thc left then go for it. I re-ran my material once (I ran about 40g) and the second time running it I barely got a dab worth so for me I do one and done. BUT I also let my material soak in the butane for ~30-40 mins so that probably has a lot to do with it.

No i wouldnt recommend smoking the pot after its been blown. As for running material a second time, i usually run my already blown material thru everclear to make edibles. I usually can get another 3-5% back which equals 3 grams off 100. Alot of extra work for not much return

You can smoke lawn clippings. If an extraction is done well, you would have to smoke a lot of the spent material, to get enough cannabinoids to experience a high. More likely a buzz created by the hyperventilation from coughing.

Yup, get even a cheeep 100X hand held microscope and examine the material after a run, to decide if it warrants repacking and running again, until you can no longer see bulbous heads.

You can also just repack and run the material again to see how much you gain. A repack can usually get you a few percent, by gleaning the material in the previous tubes dead zones. It will be of different quality than the first, and I usually keep it separate from the first if I am going for bragging rights.

Yea when I look in the tubes I can see some of the solid buds I threw in there still have crystals on them and I can also still see some keif that I put in there. I got enough to fill my vape pen 3 times. I would say .2 and now that I think of it. I only ran 5 grams. I thought it was 7 but I mis calculated

Grind up the buds before packing the tube. Greater yields. Freeze tube prior to blasting and use unbleached filters.
