Pumping oxygen into the ground?

Hey guys im semi new to growing (had a small uncared for plant in the bush a when i was young), and im keen to do a good quality outdoor crop this upcoming season.

In my effort to learn about growing good quality weed, ive heard many times that the roots love and need oxygen.

What do you guys think of digging a 2-3 foot deep hole for each plant to go in, and running a hose from the grounds surface to the bottom of the hole (under the plant) before i fill it back in with quality soil. This way, i can get an inflateable mattress pump, and pump fresh air into the ground 2-3 foot under the plant once a week or so.

What do you guys think of this? Good idea/bad idea? and please give reasoning. Has anyone tried somthing like this before?

Do you think it will make much differance to the plant?

Thanks a heap :peace:

there have been many a debate about this on here in the past; one quite recently. i dont think anyone here has tried it yet; if you have the resources and are willing; im sure many of us here would be grateful.... it think you would have to turn on the pump more than once a week. maybe once a day, for a few minutes in the morning. who knows?

didnt realize that you said to give reasoning: there was a thread recently about why hydro is quicker than soil; and the fact of more oxygen to the roots in hydro was the prevalent theory as to the reason

Well i think i may put a hose in for each plant, but try it on only half the plants initially and see if it effects the plant positivly. If so ill switch to doing all plants but still leave one alone as a indication of the differences in the air-pumped-plants. This should be a good experiment.

Anyone else done anything simular, any other ideas thoughts or info?

Cheers

i might try it with you; those little aqaurium air pumps are cheap; im sure i could rig something up with a pot indoors

I came across a Dutch grower a few years back who did this with pots of Fox Farm.

He had a big single air pump like 80ltr a minute or something feeding Air to 25 plants.

Although he claimed it was the dogs bollox over his previous grows, His plants seemed smaller than they should have.

He was kinda a ecentric guy, a little hyper and a bit of an overthinker.

Long story short, I dont know, never thought about it, but I think it would only reallly help the plants right after watering them....after that the soil draws in oxygen just fine IMO.
