oh yea, im going to home depot it up. Im thinking about making my own bucket system but i like the like the plastic bin system too. Im unsure right now but home depot is the shit when it comes to stuff like this lol. Which would you prefer? I have like a 3x3x8 closet space but i think the 5gal bucket setup would make some beasty plantsHaha, any ideas for what sorta setup you wanna build after this one? DWC is cheap, easy, and effective. And essentially already what you are doing

I grow in 5 gallon buckets DWC...they grow nice big plants if you want em. Personally, I wouldn't get a large plastic bin for multiple plants in the same bin. 5 gallon buckets are pretty easy, but for a 3x3x8 I would probably set up a flood and drain. Depends, are you vegging them in the same tent you use to flower? If so, a flood and drain SOG would allow for a quicker turnaround between harvests.
just finished removin some of the roots from the pump but i think i shoulda been keepin an eye on it a month ago cause i'm pretty sure couple roots made their way thru the filter an were commin outta the drippers

possitive. the bigger they got the more they started to drink water. They're drinking the shyt like gatorade right now
Get a filter bag and put your pump in it. Although I grew in NFT I always kept my pump in an extra bag so anything that fell in didn't clog/break the impeller which is the major cause of pump death. Here's an example:

i have to refill the WHOLE thing everyday. by saying that; anyone know a good timer for water pumps? one that can turn on for like 30s and turn off on any day of the week i choose?
How much of a reservoir do those aerogardens have? At the end of my NFT grow my 4 plants were chugging 2 gallons of water/day! I was feeling pretty whipped by the end as I only had a 10 gallon res and so every few days I was changing out my res. I'm on my second grow now and I'm trying coco this time.

I am not too familiar with areogardens but the pump is most likely a submersible re-circulating pump. Pumps nowadays primarily use a floating impellers which sit in a hermetically sealed 'well' with a axis (shaft) to rotate on. After about a month or two, the well will develop a builup of bioslime (bacterial colonies). If the impeller well and the impeller are not cleaned periodically, the build up can stop the impeller from rotating (a piece of hard debris can also sieze impellers but that is unlikely in your case). If the impeller seizes for whatever reason, it will align the magnets both on the impeller and motor and neutralize each other rendering your pump useless. You can buy a set of impeller brushes from either a hydro store or pet shop or I just use Q-tips.
Also I will add that if your diaphragm air pumps stop working, you probably have a hole in the diaphragm. This is one reason I use a good brand name as you can buy replacement parts for them. I use Hagen's 'Elite' line of pumps for that reason. All diaphragms will fail, regardless of brand name and it is alot cheaper to be able to just replace certain parts over replacing the whole unit.
lol everyday refills does sound crazy. i cant tell from ur pic but u may have let urs get way to big. the biggest res they have is 1 gallon so u can only veg for a couple months or let ur plant get but so big.
gonna have to see if i can get some of those this weekend
til then i'm gonna see if i can get in there an clear out a bit more of the roots tonight as well as get the dead roots that are probably floatin around in there

i probally did. I vegged for 5 weeks before switching but i just found out the tallest one to the left is holdin nuts. Cutting that one should slowdown refills a bit *sigh*

i thought that first pic ya posted was just one plant with some LST goin on, didnt think ya had 2 in there. damn shame it ended up being male. from what i've been reading u gotta flower extra earlier when ya do more than one plant in the AG. dependin on the size of the plant i think 4 weeks in veg may be the max
