pumice!

after clearing a spot and making the most mack daddy cage ive seen in my life roughly 10m*10m (30*30ft) in diameter. i went back last weekend do dig the soil over and to my horror only the top 20cm (8inch) or so is good soil the rest is pumice!

i mixed what soil was there into the pumice but i am still very sceptical on weather or not plants will grow there i will be planting them with 1/2 gallon or so of good soil that is in the bags when i transplant.

am i wasting my time? any1 with pumice growing experience? ive read up on it and it says only the heartyesdt of plants can grow in it haha nothing bout weed whiich is pretty hearty

is your cage a permanant structure, or easy to move? Do you have alternate spots to move your grow to that has better soil? If so, then move it all... if not work with what you have available to you, which would probably mean bringing in a SHITLOAD of extra soil (especially to cover an area of that size), you could grow in that soil if you wanted to, but I doubt you would get the same or even desirable results compared to if you packed in that shitload of extra soil... hope that helps...

Pumice doesnt have any organic material in it and is generally an inert ingredient in soil mixes. Pumice is a volcanic rock composed mainly of silica (glass) and voids. It is a good material to maintain airyness of your soil and it will retain nutes for longer periods due to the natural voids in the rock. As TLD said you will need to add your nutrients and organic substrate to the pumice to make a home for your plants roots.

yea can move it but a shit load of work might have to though grrr hardly any time still heaps of work
