I only see two moderators here on a regular (daily) basis, week in and week out, and that's Chiceh and fdd. fdd spends the most time here. I agree, it would probably make it a WHOLE lot easier if more people hit that report button. But, most are recalcitrant I think, even I have been. I've done it more lately, whenever I see something that I think crosses the line. But therein lies the rub, "what I think crosses the line" may be quite different from what someone else thinks crosses the line, yes? And then we have the Politics section.

Either way, I think they could use some help, and I honestly think Rolli needs at least one more site admin to help him with maintenance and the like.

Ohso, I just read that thread and chose to not respond out of respect for subcool. Someone who's put his own ass on the line and paid a price.

the avatars yes theres no need for porn and stuff post a picture of your crop and be happy

also theres no need to attack people but if it walks talks and looks like a dick it probally is and that person knows that

Killing off a thread because of some of the content is a bad choice. Deleting individual posts (though time consuming) is the best method. Lets say you create a thread, and 6 or 7 people contribute good content to it, but 1 or 2 people start talking shit... If you delete the thread, nobody will ever see the positive posts behind those 6 or 7 people, because of 1 or 2 people.

If you delete individual posts, you can keep the good content, and delete the bad.

For the most part, this is exercised though.

I do believe a thread started (1st post) for the sole purpose of attacking another RIU community member is flat out wrong & should not be tolerated. Immediate " Kill on Site " by moderators - I feel would be appropriate in those cases; but just those cases.

Now, if a good thread is rolling along and some (Bozo) starts name calling because he or she disagrees, well - it happens. Most of us will probably just browse over "Stupid" comments and still learn from / enjoy the thread. If the comments are terribly offensive (then remove - only that post), leave the thread in play. So, I think we agree completely on that & only differ in opinion on the first part.

I would have to agree with you! Thats what free speech is all about. Now if you are taking part in a hate crime of some sort with racial slurs, shit.. delete the post and keep the thread going. Lets say that the topic of discussion is mylar and someone says "just use foil". We all know that foil burns plants and maybe that person doesnt have an overstanding (not understanding) of why he or she's ladies turned out a little burned it spots. We should be able to make sarcastic comments and joke about it. But if we are like shut up you "(gay, n!gg@, honkkky, etc.)" perhaps that person need to be suspended and have his/her post deleted or at least warned that you can get kick'd out for sh!t like that. just post some "innapropriate comment" buttons in the thread so that people can press the button and have an administrator review it.

Or we can just get high and shut the fuck up and goto the next thread and stop being a buch of pussy's. <------- Now we should have the choice to click the anonymous [SNITCH] button if you found that comment inappropriate. See how it works?

I didn't know foil burns plants. It keeps my food from burning in the oven, but only if I actually USE it. (Those buttermilk biscuits got a little overdone the other night, but we still ate 'em.)

Seamaiden..... Here in the south, slightly over-cooked biscuits are OK, provided you have Gravy.... Was gravy available ? & were these homemade or right out of the can - fancy Store Bought Biscuits ?

Oh(sogreen), COPIOUS amounts of gravy, homemade, with a freshly reduced chicken stock and a peanut butter-colored roux made with a bit of schmaltz, olive oil and butter. Lots of freshly ground black pepper has to go into it, too. The biscuits were homemade, but I used a mix, Jiffy Mix. I need fresh baking powder to make completely from scratch (better add that to the pre-Thanksgiving list!). I must say, I make one seriously wicked roast chicken.
