It's called by those who know "Gang central".....Btw. The "gangs" cover the 3 major ethnic peoples represented by the majority school population. Poor Black's, poor Hispanic's and poor Whites. They run like a prison gang in ethnic terms....No cross over. Things that happen there, are not reported on the news.
There was a cpl of reports on a "closed" football game played in Muskegon. No public attendance due to rival gang conflicts and rumors of violence. The deal behind that was, the year before, there were several shootings at the game. While it was behind the bleachers and spread into a parking lot. Everyone ran for cover...They never said more "publicly" then it was an "argument". In reality it was gang war..
As far as what I know about the GR public schools go - especially Ottawa Hills. One of my old school buddies is a teacher there. As far as his ethnicity clouding his judgement and opinion. He's not "white".
That's always been a problem in Grand Rapids. Public denial of any gang "problem". Lack of the news even using the word "gang". The community knew. The schools knew. The police seemed to believe that if they didn't acknowledge the problem, it didn't exist. In reality. The police had standing orders to not go into certain bars or clubs if an issue arose there, until the place was closed and the people left the building. While many of those bars and clubs have been forced out of business. Those who frequented the place, simply changed locations and inside rules changed to keep the cops away and not draw attention...
Devos's "voucher" plan, on paper, sounds pretty good, at first! You see, everybody has the right to have and use a "voucher" to "attend" the school of one's choice.....This is true. BUT, the school you apply to transfer to can deny you on any basis it wants! The GR public system has made Union HS it's shiny gem show case of the voucher system..(yet it's talked of by the teachers that it's also THE HS to teach at, as the school does not allow the "undesirables" in. To a lessor point Central High. Leaving Ottawa Hills as the "dumping ground" for the "chaff".
Ah, yes, I mentioned pvt schools and pvt religious schools! You are very welcome to bring your public school vouchers to pvt academies and religious schools! You are now subject to pay the remaining tuition owed, over the financial provisions of the "voucher". Welcome to our public tax dollars paying for pvt schools! You should see the growth and modernization of these schools now!
This can not be more evident by simply looking at Catholic Central HS (again) in Grand Rapids MI. The older school buildings around the Church have either been modernized or replaced. They have bought more surrounding ground and expanded rather rapidly to become the largest HS in western MI!
I always look upon it as I drive by and reflect upon the fact that the Roman Catholic church says it's so broke that it sell's off all property it can. To help sustain it's struggling church's and convent's.....Not hard to see where this money comes from!
Why for the love of (insert your favorite deity's name here) does my tax dollars pay for NONPUBLIC schools? How is this fair to any children attending whats left of a public school system in shambles?
You can not tell me that the daughter to the Prince millions, married to the Devos billions. Is too stupid to see that she has created a system that favors those with money to put their children where they are safe from their "fears". Fears founded by the focus on the news or press, to ethnic crime. The lead will always be ethnic crime against whites. Then ethnic crime against each other. Followed by car accidents or fires and then the early weather blurb.........those "fears" have created the inequality of educational opportunities in the public system!
You point to me either not understanding racism or being racist myself.....What ever! My belief is that how will we as a society. Ever learn to get over the practice of racism.
