Pruning during mid-late flower (fan leaves AND branches)

That is actually part of what my original post was talking about. I took off a fair amount of popcorn nugs along with the fan leaves and was wondering the effects of doing so.

IMO such a small amount of energy was used in growing what I cut off. Couldnt have been more than 5% of the growth tops. If losing the energy that the plant put in to that stuff, which is pretty obvious, is the only ill effect then I see no problem with doing it..

Am definitely interested in learning more about the genetic tolerance to these types of stresses though. My strains seems to handle it quite well :D

If you go to seedfinder.eu (I think it is) you'll get a lot of reviews and information for the strains you are planning on growing.
There are 2 other sites similar that do the same, I can't remember them off the top of my head.

I know some even list the traits on the seedbank websites. I normally go with resistant strains or strains bred for years and years and years to perfection so that they are evolved enough to take on stress and other issues and still strive.
If you were to grow a strain just created a year ago and put it up against a strain known to be 5-10 years old the difference in the amount of stress, nutrients, heat, etc, they can take is noticeable.

My thinking is if I got a popcorn nug started I'll let it finish. Just for grins say a little popcorn bud weighs "x". If I had prevented that from forming in the first place that x weight would go to bigger buds up top. But since it is there and growing, I'm just throwing away x weight of bud if I strip it, because the plant is not gonna "back up" put that x weight on. It's already made the commitment to growing the tissue.

And I'm not too proud to smoke popcorn, generally as good as top colas in my experience. And for the record I have never and will never trim a green leaf.

Good points...that was pretty much my logic as well. Only really took a few popcorns. Everything else had literally NO flower on it. And the fan leaves were green but were so far under the canopy I saw no point in keeping them.

After cleaning the canopy up I actually noticed theres not nearly as much nug there as I thought

Theres about 16in of solid nugs, 4in of foliage, and then the rest stalk lol

But yeah usually I dont touch leaves unless they are dying or are really blocking something
