Pruning(defoliation) on sea of green

hello,
I am growing amnesia haze in coco under hps lights. I just switched to flowering and i did some pruning.
I have few questions...
1. Will sea of green harvest will be prolongued due do growth stagnation after defoliation?
2. Did i do it at the right time? I know some suggest to do it while in vegetation, but i started from clones, and kept in veg only 1 week.
3. Did i prune too much? (Photo)

You're not going to get much if you flower now. Are you restricted by room or something?

With that style of growing and plants that size I wouldn't have trimmed anything.

I have been running a single cola SOG for 9 years. Pruning a few leaves off is one thing and can help control some growth and improve airflow. Typically I will remove 2-3 leaves or maybe a couple small bottom branches when trimming these little plants, and that's only certain strains others I don't touch.

You defoliated these plants by removing all the fan leaves and I agree with the others that I think you went toooo far.

You will probably get a harvest still but I would expect it won't be what It could have been. However no one will ever know unless you have other identical clones you didn't trim that you can compare to.

That might be the best thing to do and let some leaves grow out. All you have right now is stem.

Honestly I'm very inclined to say just go with it and use this to learn from.

If those were clones and it's been 4 days already then they are probably close to really starting to flower. If you switch back now you are gonna stress the plants hard especially after such a heavy defoliatation.

I'd say ride it out and get your next batch of clones ready to flower while you learn from this grow. If you add a perpetual cycle of clones every few weeks you can get a constant harvest going.

I do think you over did it a bit, now don't give up.

Some feel strongly against pruning and some love it. It works well for me in my 4 x 4.

And at harvest, I don't think I got what I could have but I got 19 zips of smokable buds from this one plant.


Most of my grows are vertical and here is an example of my pruning. This is at day 21 of flower, before and after.


This is 7 days after the prune.


And at harvest.


Off 4 plants, 1 plus g/w 24 zips of smokable buds. That is about average for my grows. I have grown horizontals with 1 plus g/w.

I have 34 clones in the DIY EZ Cloner now, 25 + are showing roots not, and I plan on doing a 24 plant SOG, my first, and have had to make many changes to my system. But have always wanted to do a SOG.

There are old pics in my journal, the link is below my name in my sign line. I haven't taken any pictures in a long time though. I'm currently doing a little remodeling but I'll get some new pics soon once everything is back in place. I gotta show off the new plant supports I built .

All I've done with these so far is topped above the 4th node once and I recently topped the secondaries. I'm kinda lost on the whole pruning and training thing...I've just been letting them grow and lightly trying to train the two tops and the secondaries down with my hands just giving it a soft bendie every once in awhile. I've been thinking about grabbing a 4x4 trellis net for my tent? What would you recommend? I've got these two I'm going to flower under the 600W HID, trying to maximize as much yield as I can

Why did you do that to your plant?

If you wanna learn about training I would suggest searching and reading up in LST. It's a great way to train plants. Useig a trellis and/or scroging the plants can be great too. Researching the techniques will help you decide what's best for your room.

How big is your space?
How many plants?
Like others have said, yes you did prune too much, but its not dead so there's that.
If you have the space/time reveg for a few weeks and train it.
If you don't have space/time then keep chugging along -- it's all a learning experience.

The space is big.
1100plants, 300 were defoliated.
The mistake was done because i have new worker who took advice from other ex worker who showed him some online tutorial how he did it(photo). But this new guy over did it anyhow...
I did not reveg since i was scared it might cause addional stress, the plants are recovering now, i would be satisfied if i get 50% yield...

So your saying that your OP was an example of one of 300 plants this happened to and there are another 800 that did not get defoliated? This could be an excellent opportunity to see side by side the difference in your own grow.

It also seems that now your saying that you didn't actually do it but instead your employee did it?

Just curious why the deception in the OP instead of coming in here with the whole story first and honestly. If what your saying about plant count are true this could be a valuable experiment if done transparently and well recorded.

I will certanly compare and post pictures but losing the yield would be a problem, still wanting more sometimes turns out getting less...

Well whatever the situation, you are in a position for a good test run I think. Treat all the plants the exact same and see which has better yield.
