Protek silica as ph up?

Title pretty much sums it up. The only time my ph needs up is at the beginning of a new res. "Guy at the hydro store" told me to only use silica during flower. This was of course after using it in a fresh 20 gallons. This time around, I added my base nutes & some hydrozyme, and ph was 4.0 - 2 hrs later. So I said fuck it. Added recommended silica, and bam, 5.8 I haven't noticed anything unusual thus far.

Oh, does this thing seem a little bushy or what? She's a 3 week old sensi star from clone. Started off a pretty sad clone too.

Pro-TeKt silica is potassium silicate, which is an alkaline compound. So, yeah- it'll raise the pH.

Thanks gumball. I was meaning that last post to be kinda snarky toward the previous comment. Glad to get some feedback. Here's a couple more pics! The bigger one just had her 30 day b-day yesterday. The smaller one is about 12 days behind. Guess I don't hafta worry about streching.

Short answer yes, it's a pH up, you'd rather use potassium silicate, as you get that nice K
isn't most pH up solution made of potassium hydroxide?
Looks like with this he's getting the silicate instead of OH.
whatever, if it works, then you don't need to fix it.

Well I do not believe Potassium Hydroxide releases Potassium. So I think the main issue is whether Potassium Silicate effects the numbers? I'd like to get a second opinion. Why -- because my trees in my power Grower RDWC at the beginning of Flowering can drink almost 2 gallons per day and by that time my PH can be already at 5! I think they are sinking up all the minerals out of the water! So even though I went with GH Expert Recirculating on the change, and had a tsp 7-8% Potassium Silicate in form of Armor SI, I would like to top up with a tsp too!
