Proposed Modification to the SOG method.

Recently I have been reading into the SOG (Sea of Green) method and the LST (Low Stress Training) methods.

This has led me to believe the most light and space efficient way to grow would be to modify the SOG method to incorporate a simple wire plant funnel flipped so the smaller aperature of the funnel is at the base of the plant and the wide open aperature of the funnel is pointing up. You would then weave the colas of a topped plant in a spiral up the funnel.

I believe using this method I will be able to use CFL lumens to their fullest potential by lowering lights into the center of the funnel so the plants can utilize them from all angles.

Thoughts ideas and experiences welcome. I think its a brilliant idea personally.

Sounds like a good idea. I i'm right about what your saying then the plant would get more light also. The funnel would reflect more light to the plant. Goodluck and happy growing.

Er. well not so much reflect light the funnel is going to be a wire frame funnel commonly used for vegetables the funnel is meant to allow you to drop lights into the center on a pully so it is adjustable height. When full the funnel will catch the most 360* light from the unshrouded bulbs. I could wrap the funnel in white paper or mylar but i dont want the light shining up at the bottom of the leaves through cracks in the foliage.

K its SOG(sea of green) and LST (low stress training) Not limited.... doesent make sense.

Why change exsisting methods? since uve been here, all ive seen is you want to change the methods that have worked for a long time, every method is older then you. dont change methods PERFECT THEM, THEN MAYBE CHANGE THEM.
you gotta accully do somthing before you change something.

(edited LST its called writing the wrong word im not dumb.)

A method is never perfected without modification. If you do something over and over again the same way you are going to get the same results. End of story.

The use of the funnel increases the over all ammount of PLANT you can fit in a SOG grow and the light efficiency therein. I am in no way making a new HOLIER THAN THOU method. I am updating it.

If it is older than me then its about damn time for a change. Technology and techniques do not stay the same. Or would you rather go live in a cave and get chased by dinosaurs?

Yeah Technology doesent stay the same, THE EARTH DOES THO MATE, We change the earth and fuck it up, if we wernt here everything would be the same. yeah if you do somthing over and over again, you wont get the same results... You FIX what you've done wrong the 1st attempt, and i never called you stupid, and you will never perfect a method while modifiying it.... a method is a method because someone already perfected it.

and if the comet dident hit earth we would proboly have dinosars, but we are the supreme species.... we have brains... cavemen had brains.... they started from nothing and begun everything, they figured out fire.'
think about it they had no school systems to learn shit, they had to figure life out on there own. IF we lived back then we would all die out, except for the strong and smart. in life today there are people who learn everything from school who think there smart. really there not all that smart because they only have booksmart.... whats booksmart going to do for you if you lose everything and are on the street, people like me who are both street/book smart would be "supreme" fuck sorry for rambling im stonned....

all im saying is... why change methods that work, you arnt a scientist who gets paid to do it.

I want to be able to generate the most buds I can because I dont want to own more than two plants at a time until I get a medical card. That could take a long while. At least it wont happen this harvest.

maybe you could get like 4 4-foot T5's (20,000 lumens) and blast colas from 4 sides while it grows vertically. maybe we can call it Wall Of Green. :blsmoke:or maybe is still SCROG?

I should since im aparantly not allowed to improve on a method ill call it something new :P but i realistically shouldnt need 20,000 lumens. Thats a wee over the top I was figuring around 8100 lumens per plant. 3 42 watt bulbs on a disc of wood hooked up to a pully so the entire aparatus can be raised or lowered depending on how far the leaves encroach on the center of the funnel this coupled with pruning to keep the center open could yield some good results.

The Wall of Sound almost made the Dead go broke, but a Wall of Green sounds like the kind of privacy fence I want.

One modification people have made to the ScrOG method will success is to make the screen convex to get more even light distribution among the plants, but that is mostly tailored to HID lights.

I was thinking of a similar idea to yours except inverted, with the chicken wire or whatever being shaped into a tepee (I'm thinking about 7ft tall and 5ft in diameter as these were the dimensions I had to work with). Then the plants pots hang circle going around the outside of the cone from the top to the bottom. The nutrient solution goes in the top pot, out the drainage hose to the next pot and so on and then it gets pumped back to the top pot. You train the growth to cover the whole inside of the wire, and you can use CFLs hung or standing in the tepee, with a fan inside blowing air around.

After I got some HIDs I thought it would get way to hot in there, but I thought it would work well for CFL grows, and once the plants start budding you won't be leaking too much light but lining the inside of the tepee with mylar and cutting holes for the stems would be a pretty sweet setup.
