right but I was thinking carbon filter/ fan run the air its pushing out through my light(hps) and then duct out the tents vent?

its better to pull then push, just make sure its properly sealed, you want your fan as close as possible to the exhaust port. <3 pression

if you are using a cooltube (or any air cooled hood) its better to have filter > light > fan> exhaust, theres also: inline port > light> fan> exhaust and you use a second fan filter for the odor

you want your du
cting to be as straigth as possible, bending greatly reduces airflow, you also want to keep it as short as possible, also its better to have a straight pipe out of metal then a flexible duct as the flexible duct lose air flow with the curves, which make this duct solid and flexible

if you have to use a flexible du
ct, then use one

well see here is problem I'm at my budget but why would this be problematic? the carbon in still pushing now just throught the light and outside the tent

pushing through the lamp reduces the airflow compared to pull you lose about 15% airflow, it can be worse

pression is your best friend, i dont have fa
cts to show, but its what everyone do and also what my logic tells me, i dont use air cooled hood, when i started growing i had this setup: filter> fan > duct> exhaust, it created a big air pocket in the flexible duct. if i would have pull through the duct that air pocket would never have happened, nonetheless it still did the job

test the error i did on my first grow and you will understand why we pull (newb setup was: filter > fan (pulling tru filter) >flexible duct > exhaust

this guy puts it nicely post #9

I was advised by a guy at the hydro shop that some inline fans are quite loud, so you could get a size bigger and cut the fan down to 50% to reduce noise, you'd just need a duct reducer.

Actually cutting down the speed on some fans will make them louder.

i got one from htgsuPPLY AND ITS PRETY QUIET THE 4" INLINE sorry for the caps new keyboard but i have it hanging from a bungee cord so it just whirrs and vibrates a little

Any manufacture should have a statement like:

Speed Controllable: Yes

also look for db rating or the IMO subjective SONES rating

I've looked at many a fans, and none of them has provided the db's, but I guess I've been looking at small ones.
