Problems one week into flowering, help please?!

I'm one week into flowering, and this afternoon I noticed that some of my fan leaves have white spots on them and it looks frighteningly similar to some spider mite damage I've seen. I don't see any webs or mites on the underside, although I have seen a few black specs that might have been fecal matter. I will try to upload pictures in a second, as I'm posting from the mobile version of the site.

What do I need to do to stop this from getting any worse? Thank you in advance.

Looks like mites dude, get some Mighty wash and nuke those bastards before it gets worse. I have used Mighty Wash during flowering and it works GREAT!
Just make sure to really cover each plant, don't just spray the canopy, and it should take care of it. Might want to reapply it after a few weeks, just keep an eye on it, one good application has been enough for me in the past.

The black specs are the mites and there larva. If you have a magnify glass or a jewelers loop around look at em to be sure. And dont listen to anyone on here about what products to use on yer plant except for a select few (imo) about mites unless they say something obvious like neem oil which isn't all that helpful from what I've read. Heard more then once of people listening to use certain products for bugs and it massively fucking up there plants. Good luck with it.

spidermites. if you blow on one of your black poo pellets it will magically start moving lol. Then you will realize its not poo its alive and munching your plant.

I have tried countless of spidermite remedies. Like said don't buy any of that garbage, only a few products REALLY work and you want something that really works not something that will slow them down, kill a few for them to return etc.

So yeah you can try all the usual hillbilly methods first if you want, neem oil, chili, garlic, tobacco and then over the counter pesticides but none of those work.

I managed to get rid of my spidermites with a product I found on Ebay called Floramite. Now that is a spidermite killer that works! Only use in vegetation. All eggs will die on contact which is what you need. I know there are a couple other product that can claim the same but if you aint using something that will kill the eggs you might as well save ur money casue it wont work

I am telling you, use Mighty Wash, don't let Guccizilla scare you. I have been growing for years and it is one of the only non-pesticide products that really works. If you do not believe me, just do a google search on the stuff. Every minute you are messing around with crap like neem oil, (which does work, but is not effective at managing established infestations)is more time those mites are munching on your babies. The whole point of these forums is to solicite advice, it seems arrogant and ignorant to give someone advice on a thread, then tell them to not take any advice they get from the tread. Does that make sense? Use Mighty Wash, I promise you it works. I have a post on the sticky about Mite control that goes into much greater detail about Mighty Wash, and how it works, check it out!

I do not recommend using floramite, it does work, but is is an invasive systemic pesticide, it also does not kill the eggs. Floramite works by making the plant poisonous to the mites, every time they eat some plant it kills them. This means that it will eradicate a population, but not by killing the eggs, there is pretty much no way to kill the eggs that will not also kill the plant. A product like floramite will wipe them out eventually because it will end up killing newly hatched mites before they can lay new eggs. If you have read, or someone tells you that a product kills the eggs, it is because they do not really understand how the product works. Spider mite eggs will pretty much survive anything short if incineration.

Stick to plant vitality mate. If that company is even still in business from only selling there spidermite control, that means there product is doing something right. Stick to what works and dont take chances by experimenting.

if it takes a while to get Mighty Wash or whatever, u can wash many of the mite and eggs off with a light stream of water. then spray, thoroughly, upper and lower leaf surfaces with neem. even a light solution of water and soap, not detergent, sprayed on the surfaces will be helpful. that will help until u get the real thing. GL

careful with the neem close to the buds. don't want to screw up the taste

I've looked to see them moving, and haven't been able to. The few black specs I do see (two in total so far) haven't moved or anything when I blow on them, and brush off with ease.

I will look into the Plant Vitality, and the Mighty Wash, might end up getting both, or a different one If I can find one that is documented to work better. I'd like to use as little chemicals as possible (although I'm growing Hydro DWC/bubble with TechnaFlora Recipe for Success, so I'm sure it has its share), and my space is indoor in a cabinet on carpet, so I don't know how I would be able to spray them down (other than with a mister).

--Edit

How possible is it that this isn't a pest problem but a root fungus? I have noticed a slight browning on certain areas of the root-mass (though they don't really look/feel slimy), and my reservoir is approaching the 2 week-old mark, and since I honestly can't find anything that resembles webbing or mites/insects I am hesitant to spray chemicals onto the leaves. especially if it might be a fungus that could be fixed with some H2O2, or something similar.

Sorry for the bump, but I don't want to waste money on pesticides if root fungus is what I need to treat...

Sevin works great. Just not on flowering plants. No use if less than 30 days before cutting and smoking regardless.

if thats spider mites you will see them on the undersides of leaves with a jewlers loop, spend some time and really look good if its spider mites you will see those little fuckers move.To me it looks like spider mite bites in your pictures ,what would make me think it might not be is the fact that the "bites" all seem to be running on the plants veins, spider mite bites would look more random. youll know if its spider mites especially with a good loupe. If I notice them in veg I hit them with diazinon(hard to get)and mites are done Would never use anything harsh in flower just knock them back to minimal #s with organic remedys.

I noticed a fan that appeared as though at one point it was up against a piece of plastic. Some kinda brown mold. I know that this is impractical for most people but I burn about six pieces of bricket charcoal for spore control and increased co2. You can only burn this stuff while the hps is on and it has to be cleared before the hps goes out. For mites I spray the plants with res or fresh water and using a soft paint brush clean the underside of the fans. With liquid raid mixed with some water I hand wash every surface not related to the plant. Then I'll spray the rat manure outta them again. After that I'll carefully remove the reflectors from the base of the plants and wash them in the sink with sunlight dish soap and put them back under the plants. These reflectors will make it so some of the eggs won't hatch and they also prevent the plantroots from being exposed to the hps. I screen off all intake and exhaust ports. etc

Take Saran wrap.
Cover pot ( So dirt doesn't fall out when it's on it's side )
Tape tight around pot.
Put plants in shower.
Turn plant on side.
Use tepid water and blast those buggers off...eggs and all. ( having a shower extension hose with an adjustable head helps )
Rotate plant as needed.
Don't be too gentle...but don't blast the leaf off either.
Allow to dry.
While plants are drying..Bleach or sterilize grow room.
Spray plant final time with Neem...thoroughly. Having a hand pump pressure sprayer helps.
Top and bottom of all leaves, stems, branches.

Or you can just toss it and start over

I've fought spider mites and it's really not worth the hassle...even if you get rid of them, your in flower and the damage is done. Can't fix it..leaf surface loss, stress ( not to mention your stress )

I don't get spider mites anymore...it's been years. Don't know if I could deal with it again..
