they say an apple doesn't fall to far from the tree,,,,,well,,yesterday one of my worst nightmares came true,,,,,I was bad as a kid and did time twice before I was 16 in a training school for boys,,,and did some pretty messed up shit since then,,,but now and for a while I have been a law abiding person(cept for growing pot),,so yesterday I get a call from a Detective Constable saying I need to bring my 14 year old boy in so they can charge him with possession of stolen property obtained by crime,,and possibly a Break and Enter charge,,,so he gets home yesterday and I ask him about it and he tells some of the truth but not all the truth,,yes he had some stolen shit,,but he says he didn't B and E anything for it,,,so I tell him he's gonna take it like a man,,give him cab fare,,he takes himself to the cop shop,,and is driven home after they give him the first time treatment,,,,I talk with this cop and he and I both know my kid hasn't completely fessed up yet,,but they leave him with first charge,,after he leaves I get to the grind with my boy and it turns out he did walk into somebodies place and take the stuff,,,,,so today after school I have to take him back to the cop shop so he can spit the rest of the truth and get a second charge of B and E,,,,,,,,,,I feel like I have failed completely,,,,I give my 2 boys as much as I can,,they got PS3,,they got a pc each,,nice bikes,,money to go to special stuff,,,what happened,,where did I go wrong,,,my heart is in my ass right now and I just needed to say so

where as i would want to protect my (not existing) child, a little scare might be what he needs to straighten out

im sure we all have had a trouble streak in our youth.

failure would have been trying to cover that shit up , let them know they cross that line your not going to fight for them but will stand up with the people they hurt

I think I may have overgiven,,and let too much go,,,,trying to make up for what there crackhead mother couldn't do,,or doesn't do,,I have had full custody of them for about 3 years now and have always given given given,,,,,I want to protect as well,,,,,but he fessed up and I think he should face the music,,it's his first criminal offence as a youth so I hope they go easy on him,,

we live and learn from our mistakes.if he is a smart teenager then he will take this and learn that you work for what you what NOT STEALING IT..

he has been an outstanding kid till this point,,,,I did mention he was very lucky some guy didn't come storming at him with a baseball bat and crack his head open

most likely like your parents felt when and if they got a call like that from you being a BAD BOY. you should call your parents and apologize for bring there world down around them back when.

that is if you are one of the fortunate one to still have their parent alive and well.

he and his brother get me and my wife's (not there mother) attention,,I know a few weeks back he was asking if he could work with me this summer or on the weekend,,,and I told him roofing was no place for a 14 year old,,and that he should apply at Mickey Dee's or Tim Hortons or something

I am not that fortunate,,but my situation back then was a lil different compared to my boys

well at least you have a couple of teens who are willing to work. you don't see that from our younger generation any more. you and the ex and the new wife must of set somekind of good example for the to folow the working world.. my hats off to you for that..
