Problem with Dry Crispy Buds still on plant

This is my first grow and first post here.

So I am somewhere around 12 weeks into flowering. The reason its that long is because I am waiting for the trichomes to amber.

The fan leaves were all dying and the sugar leaves were drying and curling as well. I decided to use just water the last month (It originally started as a flush at around 8 weeks because I thought that was average flowering time but never went back to nutrients.

I am reluctant to call this bud rot because there is no signs of it on the inside. Just the outsides of the buds are crispy. But I want to make sure I'm not going to smoke bud rot lol.

The plant still smells great. It looks more like its dying because the sugar leaves are all brownish yellow and curling/dry. Its starting from the outside and working its way inside the brown/drying

I will post pictures can someone please help??!?!?!

THANKS

Thanks for the quick response guys.

I have been using straight water for the last 4-5 weeks so maybe its (something) deficient. Those pictures are of the top bud but the rest of the plant basically looks the same. It starts at the sugar leaves with yellowing/drying and moves to the bud where its crispy/dry and darker than the inside of the plant.
