Does using Pro Tech Silica reduce my chances of getting bugs. Someone told me that bugs don't like to be on plants that are fed silica. Any truth to that?

Not sure if it deters them but it helps the plant cope with any damage caused by them.
Also helps the plant cope with heat better.
Pro Tech Silica is the shit! I use it with every watering!

Last summer I lost an entire pan to thrips. All my plants had been fed ProTekt. What I've been using to deter pests is some Safer Insecticidal Soap and it's working great. I haven't seen anything else since.

I switched to dynagro nutrients which have pro-tekt which is a silica nutrient. Made my leaves shine and hearty, was very impressed. As for bugs, I do have a colony of lady bugs living on my plants. They keep dieing off and reproducing but they are a good bug so that's a good thing. Started with a few and there is probably over 50 dead ones in my room probably because there isn't enough food if any at all, I have no pests so they must be feeding off the plants or something long enough to reproduce.

Silica helps with reducing the potential death of a plant, root decay, and helps cut down on some root diseases and.. if utilized properly will also help control potential toxicity of other nutes/pollutants/salts.

No idea about the bugs but Pro-Tekt silica is one product I use for most of my grow to keep plants healthy and strong. I begin doses of 1/4 tsp per gallon at about week 2 veg all the way to about week 5-6 flower where I begin 1/2 tsp per gallon around late veg. This is every watering.
