Curled growth, brown spots and newer growth that is yellow are signs of boron deficiency which is really rare. Boron def is really rare because boron is found in nitrogen and potassium though so if you have been using nutes with N or K you should be fine. Boron def is also very rare because boron is found in water. Many bottled waters contain NO boron! Using tap water is good for this reason because your local city water does a better job keeping nutrients in your water although city water contains chlorine and fluoride you leave it sit out for a day and then it is safe to use.

I had the same problem because I wasn't using nutes yet and was feeding with bottled water. I now feed with organic meals from my local hydroponics store. I also let my tap water sit out and feed using that now. Plants turned around and are healthier then ever. Most tap waters are a safe ph but in some cities/areas can be high as 9. You can look up online to see what area you tap waters ph level is at

#1 definitely has a nitrogen toxicity, a symptom of this is very green healthy leaves with the very tips of the leaves just drop straight down. This is a picture of a plant with nitrogen toxicity.

and #2 is the one with brown spots and yellow growth and unpredictable curled growth. has boron def i believe. Below is a picture of a plant with a boron deficiency

to diagnose I use this website, remember i said nitrogen toxicity not deficiency they have them both on this website.

So if someone was using synthetics in soil would the solution be to flush that crap out?
Not for what I found over time. I used to play with synthetics a lot. I still get some given for "testing". They go to an employee who has her shit dialed in and dabbles on the side with differing synthetics and combinations of (she goes through my note books plenty).

She has me about convinced to try the new synthetic from one of the engineers that quit AN and has started his own nutrient company under the idea of KISS.....He has a 4 bottle line and I met him by chance at a Big national internet seller with local outlets (He's bang'in the AN owners exgf - smoke'n hotty). The line has nice ratio's! Kinda along the Canna and Hesi #'s. I always thought they were the hands down best available synthetics with sane sched's but overly expencive on some parts....I have a standing offer of a cpl of complete sets of his product to try out.....Tom Tom (my employee) is busting a bra to get me to take him up on it.....I may as I would like to try them in soil and DWC and see what they can do.

Anyway, nah, I found that simply watering away a problem in soil and synth's was more effective and less invasive then a full scale "flush"......The use of Myco's in tandem with synthetic's in soil helps more then many think too! I delivered mine by simple bio tea's weekly.
