preflowers showed up for a few days. i topped the plant. now they are no longer visible. light has been and remains 24/0 and they were still visible. have no idea what this means. any info appreciated.

if they were showing preflowers that means you topped too late,
when a plant shows its reflowers it means its sexually mature i.e. you can induce flowering...
the plant is probably stressed and has stopped producing pistils in order to cope with the new hormonal response

i ran out of room and had to top it. i've read posts here that say you should top 1 week after flowering. i'm pre flowering. thought it was ok. this plant will be my mother and will veg for a while. but, this is my first grow and i may be confused. i'm definately dazed.

NEVER top in flowering bro, never ever.
But if your using that plant as a mother then you have no problems because your light remains in a veg cycle.
Your plant is referred to as a 'sexy mom' which is basically a mother plant that is showing its pistils because, as said before, its sexually prime.
so dont worry yourself, your plant will be absolutely fine :D

And the reason to NEVER top during your flowering process is because that's your main bud... You're just hurting your harvest, and the harvest of the most potent part of the plant, at that.... So yeah, leave the topping to veg!

But your plant will be fine... it just needs to rebuild its strength before coming back strong... a little stunted, but none the worse for wear...

However, you may have a bigger problem... Plants typically double and sometimes triple in size once they fully flower. If you're having space constraints now, that's not good... It's much better to prune and train early, with low potency smoke, than to harm your harvest by having to cull parts of the plant for size before they reach their peak... And unfortunately, the parts that are often culled are the most potent parts, like the top cola. So, it's definitely better to veg a smaller plant you never have to clip than to grow a monster you ruin by cutting for size... Just my opinion though. :)

great info. but as i said, this will be the mother and the flowering will be done by smaller size clones from her.
