Ive started all my seeds for the 2021 outdoor grow season here in january. My goal is to get them 4 feet tall and established so when they go outside theyll be monsters! only problem is avoiding the preflowering part in the beginning of the season ... normally happens when you put your plants outside from a warm tent inside to colder 60 to 70 degree weather they get shocked and thats one way they preflower, another way they preflower is when you give your plants to many hours of day light when there use to 14 to in may june going from 18 hours of daylight inside to 14 15 can make them preflower as well ... last year i only had 1 preflower and i did a 18-6 light cycle and i started my seeds in march... this year im starting 2 1/2 months earlier started jan 18th... would like to get peoples feedback on this as its very important for me to make sure my plants dont preflower id like to hear eveyones different methods on how to avoid preflowering plants i know some people use artificial lighting to revert them back into veg for the ones that do preflower... Idk weather to start with 18-6 again or try something different this year???
I’m in a cold climate so I’ll be waiting till End of May early June by then I should have almost 15 hours of light a day. And they should stay in veg until fall
Acclimate, that is harden it off to the chill before transplanting. Ive had some early may plantings years ago, and recently 1st few days of June, where a cold snap comes in and puts the plants into preflower, veg growth. The stupid single blade growth that happens when reverting a flowering plant back to veg. Had to dig up and replant. So have some extras or a back up plan. Ive never had an issue with photoperiod trigger with 16/8.
You are hoping to put in a big plant. You must provide support for it from day one. Windy weather can make a grower who didnt trellis or cage cry.
Here it is a 14" Super Lemon Haze grown in Happy Frog from a clone under 18/6hrs, 315w 4100k CMH. H&G Soil A and B, 10 ml/gal. Room temperature From 60F to 85F. Outside temperatures from mid 40's to high 70's. Sunrise 6:26am PT and sunset is 6:36pm PT. (Tucson, AZ.)
The above post by Snoopy mentioning a 16/8 light cycle will have to be tried for soil grows intended to be moved outdoors, if this one starts to preflower.
