Praying leaves. Good? Or a sign the plant wants to be pushed harder?

I see alot of people on here talking about how their leaves are “praying” and that it’s a sign of a healthy/happy plant. Is that the case or is it a sign they want you to crank the light up? I was always under the assumption that if a plant was reaching for the sun it wanted more light?

i've never been able to figure it out either. So much differing viewpoints. i just like the look of it lol. So I try and get it going when I can.
Like this one here is always praying, even during lights out, yet is showing what looks to be light sensitivity? (Not sure), even though its over half a foot lower than the plant beside it.

The one beside it is picky and takes a while to wake up, and goes to bed about an hour before lights off. It's good most of they day though.

Some say it's too much light, some say too little. I just like the look of it..

Praying is a good thing …. Wait till flower when there praying when lights off… pic of lights off .. View attachment 5195145
I have one that goes haywire during lights off (like well over 45) and one that looks like death an hour before lights off and continues to look dead until morning.

It's interesting to see two different plants side by side sometimes..

Yours looking amazing btw.

I do however know that a plant will pray like crazy 6-8" away from a quantum board as well, even though its burning the shit out of it in the process. Had a blackberry gum that had stretch off the chain and it was at its most insane paying angles when 6-8" away from a 240w quantum board. It was probably 1800-2000umol/s, 42c and detrimental but the plant seemed to like it until it liked it too much, bleached and dried up on the tips, leading me to get a new tent.

Its great until it's too much kind of thing if you know what I mean. I have seen guys/girls on here with some insane praying coming from 300-350umol/s in veg, whereas I usually need a decent amount of light to get happiness and don't get praying until pre flower and 500umol/s and up. I mustn't have them running anywhere near as efficiently as living beings lol.

I cheaped out. I'd love a PAR meter for shits and giggles, but it would be pointless for someone like me running 2 or three autos in a closet lol. I hired an apogee from the lighting shop and took multiple references for keepsake with each light i have. I then use a uni-t lux meter andmultiply the results by 0.017 which gives PAR and compare it to the Apogees reference. Its withing 5-10% depending (reads a lower when you get further away with the lux meter) on the difference. A lot more accurate than the apps I tried using. If i'm within 15-20" the lux x0.017 is within 5%.

nice light (HLG). That would be my choice if I wasn't a cheapskate.
