PPM swing

Just wondering how much you guys allow the PPMs to rise prior to dilution with water. For example I set the ppm two days ago to 1200 and the pH to 5.5, today the PPM was 1320 with a 5.9pH, obviously the plants are changing the pH to try to uptake different nutes, and drinking more water then nutes. Should I dilute the water to like 1100, leave the pH at 5.9. Or leave everything until res change. Or dilute and re-pH?

The plants dont change ph. If your numbers are going up then you are starting too high. I can let 30-40 gal get used from a 50 gal res without ppm swinging more than 50. Its all about finding the sweet spot.

So basically dilute the nutes until they start decreasing rather then increasing? How much should they decrease over a week?

They shouldnt. The ppm should stay steady as water level drops, this means plants are taking water and nutes.

Ph will fluctuate no matter what if ur plants are drinking water/nutes.

What nutes u using? Sounds like the nova bloom recipe.
I use waterfarm with that recipe and I let it bounce a lil bit. In veg anywhere from 1k-1400 flower I try and keep it as close as I can of above 1200 but below 1300

Actually ph shoulld not fluctuate that much if nutes are correct. I never get more than .3 swing either way and only check every 4-5 days.

As SS says if dialed in everything should stay pretty constant. If my PH drops i typically know it time to change water. I don't tend to top up until near the end of the run when they drink lots. Im a newb so i try to keep it real simple. Things seem to get complicated for me if i top up lol.

Yeah, i found that altjough my strains can easily handle 1500-1800ppm with no signs of burn that yield and taste were better below 1000.
