ppm/deficiency problem

I'm a bit confused as to an issue i'm having. I am currently experiencing one of 2 things. I am getting phos, or Cal/mag def . I should be at about 800/900 ppm but when I do that I get the phos or Cal/mag def. If I take it to 1000 I get bad nute burn. How do I find a happy medium? its hydro, I'll post pics and the machine i'm using. I don't even know what to compare it to. 1000 mh, light mover, room temp 75 on, 68 off, Ph 5.8 rez temp 73. I'll get pics right now.

Your rez temps are a little high but it sounds like all things are in order, It is strange to have a Ca and Mg deficiency due to lockout as the uptake are on different sides of the pH spectrum.

Recheck your pH and if it's stable at 5.8 I would imagine you need to let your pH range some more, like 5.3 to 6.5; this will aid in some of the macro nutrients getting used up.

Here is the machine http://www.wearehydro.com/index.htm and few pics. I guess my question is this..if I lower my ppm I get deficiencies, if I raise my ppm I get bad burn. I'm using gh micro, grow, bloom, floralisious plus and a few others. Its the same formula i've used the last 2 grows with great success. I used to run a flood a drain but it was so much hassle. So I bought this machine ($1000) and its pissing me off! This pictures don't show the burn to good but trust me the ends are getting fried! IMAG1211.jpgIMAG1212.jpg

...I'd swap out the res and maybe just use the flora 3 part......I use the flora micro, and flora bloom only and have never had an issue with fertilizers....your maybe giving them too much of one element and thus causing toxicity.

I'm suprised you had an issue with the flood and drain, I've found it to be the less complicated of all....hope ya figure out your issues bro.

If you are using a ph pen check it. For about 6 bucks you can get some drops to check ph and see if the pen is OK.

Flood and drain is good for sure, I just found it difficult do to the Ph fluctuation. This ” machine” i'm using keeps the Ph stable all week to what I set it at. I work different hours everyday and found it hard to be home when the table was going to flood and couldn't always be here to Ph down the rez.

I have a blue lab guardian in my rez... Those readings are not up to date... My ppm is 1020 now and temp is 73 IMAG1192.jpg

...that's odd. The ph fluctuations could be due to the medium or fertilizers you were using, or even root issues. As mentioned, I have been running a flood/drain for several years, my setups are done like this:

I use and ezcloner for clones, then transplant into 3" netted pots that are filled with hydroton/grow rocks, that are dropped into a 4"x4" fence post. The fence post are backfilled with growrocks/hydroton....I cover my tables with panda poly to lower the RH in the room and to prevent algae.

...I run the Lucas Formula, you can read all about it here---> https://www.rollitup.org/hydroponics-aeroponics/4387-lucas-formula.html
...it's a very simple and effective mix....no pH issues.

...here's how things turn out for me.

Very nice! I just read up a little on the Lucas formula. Can you give me some tips? I'd also like to know the measurements I should use for veg/flower. You can see how small my plants are at this stage. I use tap water (220 ppm) I have a 10gl rez. Thanks for the help. I feel like a noob!

I'm going to change my rez out today and go with the Lucas formula. Can you give me some measurements? Should I use the hard water or regular? I use tap water (220 ppm) what ppm should I be looking for with Lucas?

...absolutely! ...if your under HID (HPS/MH) ...you want to add 8ml of the micro, and 16ml of the bloom to each gallon of water....that is considered to be the full strength Lucas formula....your going to be happy with the switch bro. ;)

is that measurement for veg and bloom (the whole grow) ? Should I use the hard water micro or regular since I use tap water? Thanks for your help man I really appreciate it.

I'll still tell you whatever I can, I've gone over the the thread maybe 100 times...if your growing under fluorescents Lucas suggest to use 0-4-8, veg under HID's 0-5-10, (with HID's) 0-8-16 for bloom.
