my power went out for 2 days last week,i was not home to trip the breakers back on,now a 1/3rd of my crop has turned hermie,i have 10 more days to go on most of the plants, and 17 days to go on 4 ak47,what damage seed wise will i suffer, ive had late bannas before due to heat or extended flowering with out problems, but that was nothing like this.should i chop early the hermies and let the others finish or just let them all finish.thanks.

I would just let them all finish. Harvest any seeds for backup in case you run out of clones.
thanks,i was thinking that, but 2 of the god bud i believe hermied from the get go,i never noticed it because they were in tight, but i think those genetics may produce hermie seeds.my question though is how much seed can be gotten in 10 days,,i found some little specks of seeds,i sure dont want seeds this crop,i made seeds last crop by breeding,i have more then enough seeds.thanks 420.

Wow, they hermie'd when they were that close to harvest? I had some plants that were two weeks from harvest a couple of years ago and I had a 3-day power outage, so no lights for 3 days, and the temps hit 99 degrees all three days, and I got no seeds or hermies. I guess the propensity to hermie is strain-specific, and what i was growing , AK-48, must not be very hermie-prone. Or at least my particular AK-48 mother must not be very hermie-prone or something.

Sorry to hear about your prob. I had a hermie crop last year, and it sucked, so I feel your pain. Once the crop's gone, add some bleach to a pail of water and wipe everything down good, to kill off any extraneous pollen.

wow all that and yours never hermied, now that would make a good mother, your hermy crop how close to harvest did they hermy and what was the damage seed wise.thanks.

Well, it was actually *two* hermie crops, sort of. I had this kickass-looking female (I thought), that I'd vegged for like six months. So I took some clones from her, then started her flowering. About a month later, when the clones were flowering also, I saw the balls on the big ol' female. But I had taken the clones when there were no balls, so I held out hope that even if the mother had hermie'd on me, maybe the clones wouldn't.

Well, no such luck, they *all* hermie'd on me, the big mother and all the clones. The buds were so loaded with seeds it was insane. I counted out 5,000 seeds (took a while) and put them in a container to throw around the local zoo, and there were still waaaaaaaaaaaay more seeds than that. It was Seed City, man, and the bud was so awful I had problems *giving* it away. I ultimately ended up cooking up some canna-oil with it all, and even the oil was shitty. Lotta wasted time, I was pissed!

I would keep them all, just try to remove the sacks of pollen.
their is alot of sacks of po;llen its an all day job,im doing my best,i really dont have the health to be doing it,i was just thinking with 10 days left how much damage can the pollen now do,when i pollinated my females for breeding that was 5 weeks before harvest,i would think in 10 days it would be only tiny little seeds,i dont really know how much a seed matures from the start untill 10 days later.but i cant stand hermies, they are a drag, but their was no way to prevent it,if it happened earlier they say you can use dutch master reverse or whatever its called.

Hah, no pics, never want to see those visions of endless piles of seeds again. Just use your imagination: picture a big pile of seeds and a hippy looking down at them with an unhappy frown. Heh.
