powder mildew / dank buds

maybe someone can help. looking online for pics of powdery mildew and pics of dank buds but here is the problem. "dank" buds look the same as " powder mildew" buds. anyone else have a problem with seeing the difference?

everyone says under the scope mold will look hairy. i see lots of hairs all over my bud. not visible to the naked eye. and when i look at pics of dank bud i also see lots of hairs. if you have pm will you not be able to see any trichomes?

i have been searching for weeks. look at countless threads and to be honest none of it makes sense. its pretty much 50/50 post a dank bud and 50% think its moldy and 50% think its dank and if you post moldy bud same thing 50% think its dank and 50% think its moldy. i have never inspected weed for mold until just recently. now im looking at my buds every 20 mins under my scope. <3 INTERNET. sorry for spelling im not one for proof reading.

because you dont smoke your cheese, your cheese doesn't contact your lungs , and your stomach and digestive system can handle molds to a certain extent due to stomach acid, your lungs on the other hand dont handle mold at all.

Under a scope,
Trichomes have a "head", almost mushroom shaped. PM just looks like hairs. PM will also be a more pure(clean) white, while trichs are either clear, off-white, or amber.

i get it that everyone keeps saying pm looks like hairs. well follow the first link to "dank buds" they all have hair on them. wouldn't you agree?

if your plants get mold on them while they grow you will notice that the leaves yellow/brown die off, faster than they do normally in late flower. this doesnt happen all over the plant, just the spot where there is mold. then you should inspect the branch thoroughly and probably chop it. chop off any moldy or affected areas before it dries.

still looking for opinions to OP. i know to "Cut" off mold...

Not all trichomes are capitated stalks (stalk and head) some are hairlike structures. PM doesn't look uniform like these hairlike trichomes. It connects to the plant and looks like a bunch of twisted very thin fibers under a microscope. That link you posted does not show PM, it shows the hairlike trichomes

i disagree, dank bud doesn't look like PM. If you know what good weed looks like then you should have no problem identifying PM. If you really cant tell the difference with your naked eye then get a microscope of 40x and you'll be able to tell without a doubt.
