im pretty sure you ca have decent canopy with 1 of those 5G buckets if you go photoperiod and just do some vegetative more week than the autos. But im just starting to grow cannabis. its my second season, but if you go auto, lets see how many small pots you can put in a see of green with lot of small pot to get some nice main colas.. see some of diaries, lot can give you some things to think about and make your choice with that. With the buckets you bought.. i would put both in 3x3 and would use one 5G or lot of small pot with good height so you can maximize the amount of strains you wanna try.. but im still learning.

General guideline i use and read here, is one gallon per sq ft. So you can go 1x10, 2x5, 3x3, etc.

I also have a 3x3 tent, and a 2,5x2,5 one. Did 1x10gal fabric pot last two grows, good for the 2,5x2,5, should have vegged longer in the 3x3.
Strain plays a very important role in how much and quick you can fill your canopy.

I will def go with 2x5gals next time, seems like a better balance and easier to get a good canopy, specially if you already know the strain.

I have a 3 x3 and realistically; 4 plants in 2gal cloth pots or 3 plants in 3gal cloth pots. Or more if 1 gal or less.

Depends on your media. If you are using coco, then 2 gal pots are fine, you can grow trees in 1 gal pots with daily multifeeds. I've got 4 air pots like that which were advertised as 5 gal but they're actually 3.5 gallon and use 4 in a 4x4. Trying to decide between 2 or 3 pots in a 3x3 won't make a huge effect on yield because you can fill the canopy with bud sites either way. Good luck!
