Potassium Silicate Overdose?

Im not going to go into it and ask for anyone to try and diagnose my plant problems, but I was curious if anyone is familar with overfeeding potassium silicate.

Looking back i might have been using a little too much, but i was using it as a way to ph correct my nutes. I got some different nutes that is less acidic so i am using far less then i was before. I am currently having a little bit of problems that i am trying to head off before it could potentially get worse. Thanks for the help.

This makes really little sense. You want us to give advices without diagnosing? That sounds really contradicting and counterproductive.

I've been overdosing silicates yes to know the effects. But Google would probably tell you the same thing. Leaves become very thick and brittle when overdosing silicate. Stay under 50ppm per gallon and you're fine.

It's really hard to help without any proper data buddy. I'm no wizard who can see through space and time how you're dosing and at what strength. What silica product and at what strength? Hydro or soil? Need proper data otherwise we're just shooting in the dark. Cheers!

It's because I wanted to start a discussion and learn instead of just asking for help with this particular problem. Its better to learn and help yourself then constantly think someone else can come and save you.

I really want to find out more about potassium silicate in general. I know potassium can interact with magnesium and calcium absorption so it would make sense to me that it's possible to over do it. I have to look at my log to see how much I was putting in there to know for sure. I'm using protekt btw. Either way thanks for the response. I suppose I'll look elsewhere for info. Peace.

It's definitely possible to overdo it with PH up and down both, regardless of which kind you use. They all add ppms too, well, except for citric acid, which takes ppms of bicarbonate away. I would mix up a batch like you usually do and keep an eye on your ppms to see how much of it is the potassium silicate, and then go from there. If you are hitting your ppm and ph targets and your plants look happy and healthy, I wouldn't worry about it.
