I really like the idea of having a medium that drains as fast as I can water it but has a reservoir so I can go 2-3 days between watering.Which is why i prefer hempy to soil.

I too use 3 Gal pots with HappyFrog soil and I always average plants that are 4 ft tall and yield on average 2-3 dry ounces!

Sorry, but you table is way off and not even close to accurate. I only use 3 gallon pots and usually see 4-6 ounces per. Where did you even get these numbers?

If you want to start a new thread an ask some questions I'm sure they will get answered pretty quickly anyways. Veg time an pot size get covered a lot, but people dont give people a hard time generally about starting redundant threads.
That seems pretty accurate thats about what i have been getting out of my gal pots half oz ea on the low end 1 oz if lucky and the 3gal pot i got like 2 oz so that was nice wish i knew all this ahead of time also soil is a slower grow and smaller yields in comparison to your hemp and coco grows which I'm running one now!

Old thread, I know, but anybody use different pot sizes but keeping the plant canopy the same? For example a 5 gallon pot with a 4 sqft. coverage and a 10 gallon pot with a 4 sqft. coverage in same tent. Its possible to do with less training on the big pot and vice versa. Would you get bigger buds on the big plant or is plant size a limiting factor? If one can increase yield by 50 to 100% by using more dirt, I think more people would use bigger pots

Idk, I'm not very experienced (only started growing indoors this year), and apparently grow the worst plants here according to most ppl, but all my autos have been grown in 3 gallon pots or smaller and halve all been 6-8oz regardless. These numbers seem very low.
This was in 2x4 tent in a 3 gallon pot, ended up pulling just over 7 Oz over 81 days and could have gone longer.
First auto ever grown, in a 2x4, 2 gallon pot. 6.2 ounces solid and 40g larf.
Second auto grown, third week of flower in a 3 gal pot, 2x4. Ended up pulling 192g.
Here's a pic of a 2x4x6 stuffed to the brim two weeks Into flower, it got really tight in there a few weeks later...two autos, one in a 8L pot and one in a 3 gal pot. The tent pulled just shy of a lb (14.2oz over two plants).
This is the smallest auto I've ever grown, this was in a 3 gal pot outdoors (photo at week 4 of 9 flower). 4 grams short of 5 ounces at the end of the day.
Considering there was no environmental control, 30c temps, a new grower and cheap potting mix from Bunnings, I shouldn't be magic or anything...

Which auto strains were you running, and from which seed bank? If you dont mind me asking!
I've never ran any autos myself, but that's pretty impressive. Might have to try a few on the side for an early harvest next year

I know I made a shit ton of mistakes during those runs above as well, so I'm my mind, those were far from optimal yields and could have been better if i had more experience, humidity/temp control and didn't smoke weed 24/7 beside my tents lol.
Keep in mind this is my only reference as these are the only plants I've ever grown in pots (grew a few outdoors last year), so it's all i know. Along the way I got told everything I did was wrong so there's definitely room for improvement lol.

The top pic is a GDP auto from Aussie Canna (they didn't state the breeder), the second and third pics are chimp glue 2 autos (gg#4/og Kush/ruderalis from synergy Automatic) purchased from caveman seeds, the tent with two was a blackberry gum auto (caveman seeds) and a grandaddy purple auto (Aussie Canna, no breeder description bar "mendo purp X OG Kush x ruderalis ) and the bottom was an ak420 auto from caveman seeds (no breeder info bar AK-47 X G41 X ruderalis).Good job man! First year growing, doing better than most I'd say! LOL

I do feel pot size is a limiting factor, but only to an extent, especially with root pruning pots. Way too many factors to put an "average" weight per pot size IMO.
Veg time and genetics would play the largest roles, assuming there was adequate lighting/environment. Pot size would only become a problem after a long veg time, and even then mostly to grower error/not being able to keep up with feeding/watering.
Here's a plant in a regular 20 gal plastic pot that I'm expecting 32-48 oz out of (who knows LOL).
