This is a friend's outdoor Master Bubba in coco currently in a 1 gallon pot. He's transplanting it into a bigger pot with coco again, but since flowering is so close in California we didn't know whether to go with a 3 gallon or a 5. Is it too late in the season to upgrade it to a 5 gallon? It's currently about two feet tall.

Do a 5 gallon. Small pots outdoors are asking for trouble and tiny yields. Even if it doesn't fill the pot with roots this time around, you can re-use the same pot and soil next year. Just add a little worm castings and kelp, maybe a few other things, a few weeks before planting to let it break down and release nutrients into the soil.

so much for pot size. for years i used 5 gallon pots and since i have to move mine frequently i got tired of the weight. this summer i used 10" diameter pots that are closer to 3 gallon. what a difference in the labor
. my plants are as large if not larger than in the larger pots. this is a pic of a 3 cola C99 in a 10" pot at 55 days flowering.

If it hasn't stretched yet, put it in a 5 gallon. I'd get away from the coco though, it holds water a little too well.
