Pot Size or Plant Count?

Man you guys are all nuts when it comes to pot sizes. I never use anything under 5 gallons and it's been working so far. 2 ounces dry off of of a plant called Smile automatic. FYI i'm not affiliated or anything,I was just extremely satisfied with the bud. Kannabia also has a regular and female version as does Underground Originals who may have created it.

The 3 different autos I have grown over the last 2 years don't get any bigger in any pot bigger then 2 gal. so I don't waste the soil and space for bigger.. I have tried 2liter,1gal, 2gal, 3gal, 5gal and deep bed planting with 20+gal of soil...they get to there full size in 2 gal so that's what I use...
tell us more about this Smile if you don't mind...there description is not very good... size, grow time, ect ect...maybe pic's if you got them...

These were in 2 gallon pots. 1/2 roots 1/2 supersoil.
The pics are of 2 different plants. I forgot to label one is R.R.F. and the other Auto Assassin from Short Stuff. The one labeled unkown 1.xxx yielded 52.4grams the other 69.6grams dried and cured.
I have a 4' 6 bulb t-5 and a 2' 4 bulb t-5 adding up to 420 watts. 24/0 for 4-5 weeks then 19/5 until harvest.
I had a total of 4 - 2 gallon pots and 2 - 1 gallon pots. the 1 gallons had Snowryders in them also from Short Stuff. My total yield in my 2' x 6' x 5'tall space was 9oz. on the button.

In my opinion I think the size of the pot helps if you have the room because you don't have to water them so much. Just a thought like the thread though.

Auto flowering strains are very well marketed gimmicks that never should have been invented.

This is an amazing statement. Only someone who is super stupid, or someone who has not TRIED auto flowers would make this comment.......
Let me break down the simple logic behind an auto flowering strain, and its production quality.
A Photo period plant. No Matter what way you grow it. Will produce less bud per foot of space and watts of power IN THE SAME TIME FRAME.
For instance. Autos will beat out a photo in 12/12 from seed, Autos will beat out a super scrog, super crop, or super LST.
What is veg time on a Super cropping, Super LST, Or scrog? 60 - 120 days? then what, another 70 - 80 for flowering? for what? a pound.....
in 200 days, with autos i could produce 2 or 3 pounds or more.... Just sayin
I am so confident in the production power of autos, i will challenge anyone to a "time frame" production challenge

"Auto's" and I really really hope there is a next step in weed evalution, lets just keep the pedal to the medal and keep experamenting, who knows in 2020 maybe just cola's will be growing out of the ground.

They are called Autos because you DO NOT control the veg time ... They veg for 3 weeks .. nothing more and nothing less .. no matter how long the light stays on ... I would say plant count .. grow more in 1 gallon pots .. and get an Ounce a plant .. so if you grow 7 .. that could be 7 ounces ..

5 gallons is a bit much for a plant that has less than a month of veg time .. you can easily pull 2 ounces in a smaller pot .. but each to his own .. if it works for you .. don't fix what isn't broken
And I too would like to know more about that "SMILE" ... Sounds like a good strain .. and I like smiling .. lol ..
1 strain i no responds to topping is chronic ryder does not start to flower till 28 days from breakkng ground goes 11 weeks total 12 if your into comas

I know it was a page or two ago but when you have some of the larger autos i think it is very viable to transplant only once but always have a 5 gallon pot by the end. I start off my seeds in solo cups let them grow for a week or two then either throw them into a 5 gallon or a 2.5 gallon. For the 2.5 I would use bags instead of a pot and then when the roots start coming through the drainage holes, I will cut off the bottom circle of the bag (making sure not not to damage roots) . Just make contact between the two and add soil on the sides of the bag that was placed inside the bigger pot just an inch or two between the walls of both pots. On the other hand sometimes I just put solo cups straight to 5 gallon pots. I think it is best to time the transplant correctly especially with the technique of cutting out the bottom of the bag. If you do it right as the first few roots are popping out of the bottom drainage holes then putting it into the bigger pot without removing the part of the bag keeping the sides of the roots mass together so most of the roots never even knew what happened and the roots entering new soil just think there digging deeper and there is not strain on the plant. Is it technically transplanting? I don’t know but I think it is the best option when working with Auto’s.

OK, I'm sort of confused about autos.....Why would you want more smaller plants in smaller pots to get the same yield as less plants and larger pots? I understand this concept if you are taking clones, but the auto's are always from seed. At an average of about $10.00 per seed, it will get pretty spendy
