Is an 18% return normal? The best I've done with bubble bags is 10% and sometimes less. I'm thinking of ice water hashing my entire Tora Bora plant, but if your method yields 2x..... I'm thinkin you might want to give yourself some more practice with that gadget with the Tora Bora buds? That is if you're interested in some of that TB oil for yourself? ;-)
18% is above average for Butane extraction (bud run)..trim usually pulls 8-11%

I've had frosty buds that I only got 7% from...

Oil is so damn hard to predict.
I literally have hundreds of variables blasting open tube style.

10% is an awesome return for bubble IMO.

But...as purdy as your TB is looking.....

We may just have to meet up in the near future. ;)

Be forewarned; I take my time with extractions and usually do some reading on the strain(s) before extracting, I also search various venues for the latest and greatest...so the turn-around time may be a bit longer than you'd like.

@Confucious..
I agree, don't know why he kept it so wet for so long, yet said
” To let the glands sit in water too long is harmful to terp retention”
*paraphrased of course.

But, damn..no mold..gorgeous water hash.

Nice fucking Cannoli btw!!
Was hoping to do more oiling today, but alas...

My disease didn't feel like it:(

Hopefully tomorrow.

Oh yeaaaaahh!!!

I saw that Natural Mystic is now sending their Tora Bora flowers to Top Shelf for N-butane extractions.

Called to ask about it..

60$ a gram and exclusive to members, will a Not sell to non-members.

But, you can always go with their syringe oil...

That costs 120$ a gram :)
Profiteering anyone?

I mean dam..

Look at my slab a page back, I put love, hard work and LOTS of study into making oil..

But even winterized oil; I would have an extremely hard time asking more than 35-40$ a gram to a patient

Recreational; still...but more feasible.

I get bored........

"........ for hydrocarbons with straight chain molecular structures,.. these types of reaction steps are a major part of the mechanism.. for those with branched structures there are more attractive alternatives that suppress the last step shown(reactive free radicals build up leading to self sustaining reaction) -- for example, a rearrangement reaction to an alcohol plus a ketone.

It is a little ironic -- branched chain molecular structures proceed via simple radical chain mechanisms, while straight chain molecular structures react via branched chain combustion mechanisms, which can get quite explosive and unstable.

An autoignition can thus occur at a quite low temperature for a hydrocarbon with a straight chain molecular structure, but a much higher temperature will be needed to produce a self-sustaining reaction in its isomer with a branched chain molecular structure."..... The autoignition temp of n-butane(straight chain) is 288 degree Celcius while that of isobutane(branched chain) is 460 degree Celcius................ . The intermolecular interactions of isobutane are weaker than those of n-butane because it's a compact molecule and doesn't stack as neatly with itself. This makes it more volatile and gives it a higher vapor pressure....remember that imfs are what create polarity as well and is why hexane is superior, to butane .

Cool huh
Oh if you didn't get it...(iso butane is best..for many other reasons as well)
Always hear a lot of talk about n butane for some reason

Informative post as per usual QK.

However, the ability for a common schmuck such as myself to obtain Iso-Butane is unlikely.

Fast forward a few years, and I hope to have a tank of Iso-Butane on hand at all times.

I learn like I make love; slowly...haha.;)
Thanks for being the canna- encyclopedia brother Qweeeeezz!

Morning gents.

Sneak Peak at my Trim and larf run from my garden.

Neville's Abusive Wreck and Snow Goddess 2

I've dubbed the oil as ....

Snow Wreck

It's glowing on it's own...

I kinda fucked up and let my oil become to thick...this is the opposite of what is known as thin film.

I usually scrape and spread very very very thin.

Well..I haven't scraped up so much is such a long ass time, I didn't realize how thick the patty was.

The result of not utilizing a thin film..

Increased viscosity, making it more difficult for the solventand/or moisture to escape the surface tension of the oil.

To decrease the surface tension the oil needs to be heated, if in thin film you don't need to apply as much heat... 115°-120°

So, it's darker than I would like, I'm still working it in the vac, gonna try and and clear things up a bit.
