Post A Picture of Your Scale

So I made a very similar post on the farm, and got no response. I am confident that RIU will do a much better job appeasing my curiosity. I should of just made the original post here, but oh well, live and learn.

Anywho, I have to assume most of us have one, seeing as it is a very important tool of the trade. Scales range so greatly in quality and price, you could spend $25 on a scale or over $1000 (or much more than $1000 for a microbalance, but we don't have any use for a scale with .00001 accuracy.)

Right now I have two scales. My main scale is a very old Mettler Toledo.
100_0076.jpg100_0075.jpg
She has a 200g capacity with a scale of .01g. After much testing (it's old wanted to make sure she still worked) I found it's still very very accurate, with a margin of error of .02g.

I also have this piece of crap I bought for $20-$25. It's disguised as an i-phone as if it was going to fool anybody.100_0078.jpg
It only has a scale of .1g, and I hardly use it. But in case my good scale fails on me I have a back up until I get another proper scale.

I really want to know the 'industry standard' for scales. So please guys and gals of RIU post a picture of your scale, cure my curiosity. How many people pony out the big bucks for a high end scale? Do a lot of people save money without losing accuracy by going triple beam over a digi? Are the cheaper digi scales good enough for most people? Are commercial growers weighing out their meds with one of these:
? I don't know, and hopefully you fine folks of RIU will change that.

Well I have the hand held scales you pictured, but mine are over 30 years old and I have no use for them any more.:eyesmoke:

I liked the old days you just needed fingers not scales.:lol::lol:

I've never even owned a scale come to think about it.. wow.

I've never needed one I guess...

I mean, I never have more than 3 (max.) plants per grow.. very very rarely have I even had 3 going at once. Usually I just do two because that gives me enough at harvest for what I personally need. I don't sell.. never have and never will.. and I can actually say that with integrity and honesty.. feels kinda good because I have done other dumb things in my life.. lol. But then again.. who hasn't.

but yeah.. I guess caregivers and dispensaries need them to get official weights in order to not lose money during sales.

peace..

Tanita makes the best scales. They're proffesional. Expensive but the best. Weights a dollar to the gram exact. Never have to calibrate them. Jewlers use them here

I am really surprised at how many people don't have a scale. Hands are no substitute for the number a scale gives you. Empirical data, yo! I got my first scale as a teenager, and haven't been without since. I couldn't imagine a life without a scale. Quite frankly I think you're all a bit crazy for not having one. :) I suppose if you grow for yourself and only yourself you wouldn't need one.

Benny those scales are pretty reasonably priced for a decent scale. My only problem with them is they don't have any .01g scales. They had .1g and .001g+ but that's all I see. Having the .01 scale is helpful when weighing BHO or earwax. I was thinking about getting this Mettler Toledo. Everyone seems to be selling it for $350 but the supposed MSRP is $595. Also I have no need to weigh 610g, but if I ever need it for another purpose it doesn't hurt to have. My 15-20+ year Mettler Toledo is still trucking along for now.

Cannbisguru you're really that paranoid? Scales are legal, and you'd have to have a monkey for an attorney to ever get in trouble for a scale. And unless it was with an illegal substance, you'd have to be living in a pretty backwards place to even have to hire an attorney. Not to mention I really do use digital scales for lots of universally legal things, cooking, and formerly school (chem major). Well I guess not lots of things, two things, but still my point is valid.

Why would i need a scale. I'm growing to smoke weed not to try and turn a quick buck. And even if i do pass out odds and ends i never weigh, i give them what i would like to be given, however much it happens to weigh. I an't really see a single reason why i would ever want to bother with scales other than being able to brag about harvest weight :p just money money money, the

i can understand not having a scale if you only grow personal stash, but don't you people have to buy every once in a while? i have one of those postal scales that i usually bring with me when i buy, and if the dude has his own dig scale i always make sure to have a nickel on me. plus i just like to track my harvest weight. it's a good way to dial in a certain strain if you want to experiment. i got a little fuzion scale at home for 20 bucks. it does .1 and goes up to 600g. i use it to weigh my harvests and here and there i'll sell a friend a bag. (obviously this pic is from the net)

I long gave up bothering to weigh my dealers stuff. scales or no scales i know i'm gonna be ripped off, i can judge 16ths and 8ths by touch and sight without an issue. Only time i'd want a set of pans would be if i were buying ou/nces at a time as dealers seem very prone to skimmming a couple of grams off each ounce they buy to make themselves a cheeky free one. The only reason scales are justified is because "we" ahev all become such piece of shit greedy cuntbags that 0.X grams uddenly becomes important, for dealers yes, as that's just stock control, but for growers, i honestly say i have absolutely zero respect for growers who sell at the prices they do these days, i'd happiily see them busted by the police for being as said, cuntbags, at the very least they should be raped by a downs syndromer.

No scale for me either... when harvest time comes if I want to see how my efficently my grow was ill have a friend stop by and drop off a scale..
but I don't sell so no need, plus if I "accidently" harvest a little to much, I can pleade ignorance about being over my limit as I don't have a way to weigh my harvests.

The reason I don't carry a scale, few years back cops came to a buddies apt on a complaint of marijuana smell, he was just a personal toker, BUT they intially charged him with intent to distribute, as the scale was in his kitchen, and go figure sandwhich bags were in there as well...
The world isn't a fair place everytime, there are innocent folks sitting in prision over some trumped up BS charges.

i read that a couple times and i think i know why you always get ripped off...i can take 5 different strains and weigh out a quarter of each, and NONE of them will look identical in amount. i do hear your point about scales only being needed because of greedy people, but it IS benificial to have a standard. i give you x amount of money and i know for certain i will get x amount of product. it's a simple difference of wholesale vs retail. when you buy retail (street value) weed the nickels and dimes suddenly mean something.
