Or a series of cfl's

Get you some 42 watt bulbs and grow a plant. that will give you an idea on what your next (and better) grow will need.

Are your seeds named or bagseed?

CFL bulbs are extremely cheap, just check out home depot or menards. I was just at home depot the other day and they were selling single 9 watt lights for $3, yet I looked elsewhere in the store, and found a 4 pack of the same 9 watt bulb for $1.97.. But you're definitely going to need more watts than that if you plan on getting a half way decent harvest.\

depends on the lamp, most take up to 60 watts so its fine but look on your lamp and see what it says if possible.

If I had to grow with cfls, then I'd use a couple above the plant and some 23 watts to focus light on the sides. The trouble about cfls is light penetration: if you focus only on the top of the plant, you will get a harvest, but the lower parts of the plant will be light starved and will likely die.

Another thing you might try is what I'm doing with my clones. https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/373404-cloned-flowering-white-widows.html If you look at the middle clone, the one that's overgrowing the other two, you can see that I've tied it down in several places and have half-broken limbs to keep it growing low. This particular plant is under 5 cfls, but I think only light from 3 of the bulbs is close enough to do it any good.

Cfls are not prime growing lights, but with careful management you can get a very nice grow from them. I have not done so, but many people in these forums have documented fantastic grows with cfls.

Happy growing.

That is just the equivalent wattage to an incandescent light (it's kind of like a marketing scheme they do) so that bulb will be fine in that socket.

People have grown on here with several CFL light bulbs (i.e. the type you plug in a normal socket) strung up together just fine. It might not be the best way of doing things but if your budget is tight might as well do it that way. To successfully grow a moderately sized plant you'll need at least 100-200 watts of light to get it into fruiting (thats per plant). More likely you'll want to go with 200 w of light since CFL's don't penetrate as deeply as HID. CFL's are great for vegging and so so for fruiting. They will get the job done if you're persistent.

can i grow on just an led light or will i still need
hps or cfl? and what is the certain wattage i need to get it to grow big versus the wattage to make it flower??
