Just to clear up a bit of mis-information I keep seeing.

A stamen (banana) is already "open". It is what is inside the male flower and it releases pollen. It can be viable or weak. Sometimes only a few seeds in buds result in my experience.

Wise to isolate plant. Maybe not too many seeds found at harvest. If the plant in question seeds up the product can still be potent. Just seedy.

Thank you, I always appreciate accurate information. Most of the ones I plucked out had not been opened yet. They were still in their little sack (is this still called a calyx on a male?) so when i plucked them out there were 2-3 little green stamens in there. I only found maybe 3 that were fully exposed and yellow in color. I still have not found anymore. Keep your fingers crossed for me friends!

That sounds more like full male flowers and yellow means pollen. I have heard spraying water disables the pollen.

Then you can remove the male parts more safely. But if this is going on for a while I would expect seeds. Hopefully not too many.

I re checked you pics and I think you were just taking apart regular bananas that had not developed fully.

I had a Thai cross that I was able to get pretty close to done by misting and removing these stamen. But some lower buds were very seedy at the end. Did not affect potency or anything. But it and a couple plants in the room had some seeds. No one cared. I plant them. They are female.

Most times this is caused by stress.

They look really nice man! Seems like you know what you need to do. Just quick reminder to always shower and change before you go from one room to another :D Best of luck!

I know this isnt the theead for this but while i have some of your attention, can anyone tell me what these are? It was especially hot today (86) in my grow room. Its typically between 75-77.... 80-81 on hot hot days. Ive seen a few lf these around in the past but theyvwerent doing any damage and looked pretty harmless. Maybe only 2-3 at a time. Today though, there were dozens of them flying all over the place. They look like little morhs and appear to prefer sitting close to the buds. I squished and removed about 15-20 of them. Im hoping they dont become a real problem this close to being done!!

I think those are thrips. I'm sorry I have not dealt with them before. Hopefully someone who has experience can help.

Maybe try to look them up and make a positive identification.

No, definitely not thrips. Like I said, Ive looked up all the major pests and I cant find them anywhere. Maybe theyvare just local moths. They do just look like tiny moths and don't seem to be doing any damage at all.

Moths will lay eggs that become larvae too.

You are right I think. Way to big for normal cannabis pests. I have a no tolerance rule in my garden for any pest.

I routinely check for any pests daily as well as a once a week very thorough check. Unfortunately I found them right as I was leaving for work so I only had about 10 min to get rid of what I could. I will go through tomorrow and do a very thorough check and get rid of them all.
Its a little harder for me to control pests because I grow in a shed that is not possible to seal up every single crack. I did the best I could, but its just one of those things. For my next run I will try to put more security measures in place such as a screen door or something to allow air flow but keep out any bugs. Hopefully they will go away on their own once I squish them all lol. Ill hang up some fly strips or some yellow sticky cards as well to catch any strays. As long as they arent doing any damage to the plants or get stuck in the buds themselves it will be fine.

That sounds like a good plan. Sorry for the rash diagnosis. I am pretty tired. Been working pretty hard and not sleeping enough lately.

I tip I do have that could be useful is I found a roll of bug screen like for camping tents on Amazon last year. I don't remember the details but it works great for a lot of things like capping the end of an exhaust or intake vent. It's black micro meshed and waterproof plastic material. I just searched for bug screen on Amazon.

I will most likely do that for my next run. There are several things I have planned to do differently next time that will help to improve my environmental qualities. Thats what this first run was all about: learning. :)
